Love at the Wrong Table Emmanuel Lowe Chapter 442
Love at the Wrong Table
Chapter 442
âManny, donât listen to your sister! Iâm fine!â Alessandra quickly intervened
before Roselynn could spill the beans. She wanted to prevent Roselynn from
revealing the extent of her injuries.
Emmanuel understood his motherâs selfless nature. She always prioritized
others over herself, and she didnât want to jeopardize his relationship with his
brother-in-law.
So, she chose to keep the matter hidden. Sure enough, Alessandra spoke
highly of Jaxton, assuring Emmanuel that Jaxton didnât mean any harm. She
even urged him to persuade his sister to reconcile with Jaxton swiftly.
Alessandra even mentioned that couples often had arguments but
reconciled by the end of the day, and that Roselynn should be a good wife.
Of course, Emmanuel wouldnât agree to that. He had promised not to let his
sister suffer. However, he also didnât want to go against his mother. So, he
simply stated that it was Roselynnâs decision to make, and they shouldnât
pressure her.
After he ended the call, Mackenzie approached him. She had a pristine white
towel draped over her shoulders. As she was drying her damp hair, she
remarked, âJaxton doesnât seem like a good man. Tell your sister to leave him
and find someone new! If sheâs interested, I can even introduce her to
someone!â
Well, that was quite considerate of Mackenzie. After all, the esteemed CEO of
the Terence Group, known for her icy demeanor, was offering to set up his
sister-a fact that would be hard to believe for those familiar with her
professional persona.
Emmanuel also felt her extraordinary kindness toward his family. However, his
gaze remained fixed on her figure. She sensed his stare, followed his line of
sight, and glanced down. Only then did she realize that her neckline had
come undone, briefly revealing a glimpse of her alluring cleavage in front of
this man.
âWhat are you looking at? If you keep ogling my chest, I might just gouge your
eyes out!â She pointed her finger at him, issuing a stern threat.
His face immediately turned crimson as he hastily turned away and
explained, âMs. Quillen, I didnât mean to look. Itâs just that it appeared as
though you were deliberately trying to entice me. Please be more careful
next time, or I might not be able to control myself.â
Her eyes widened in disbelief. What had just happened? How dare he accuse
her, the esteemed Ms. Quillen, of seducing him? Despite the fact that she
allowed him to catch a glimpse of her body, he had the audacity to shift the
blame onto her. Did this idiot not realize how fortunate he was? If she were to
lift her clothes slightly, the men in Yeringham would be overwhelmed with
excitement and suffocate.
Still, even though she was annoyed, she couldnât help but notice Emmanuel
blushing for the first time. Well, it seemed gynecologists were also interested
in womenâs bodies! The thought brought a smile to her face.
Although she was rather annoyed, she also couldnât help but feel a sense of
pride. She couldnât help but think of Claudetteâs diary and believe that her
charm surpassed Claudetteâs on a different level. After all, Claudette was
already recognized as the acclaimed goddess in Yeringham, a level above
her. What level would she be at now?
He couldnât help but ask, âWhy are you laughing, Ms. Quillen?â He observed
Mackenzie, who had initially been angry, suddenly displaying a proud smile.
Unexpectedly, she let out a cold snort as her face smoothed out into a
serious expression. Then, she simply returned to her room. This flustered him.
Mackenzie was perfect in every way, except for her sudden change in mood.
He still couldnât decipher her temperament even after she had spent a good
amount of time with her. He assumed she had gone back to her room to
sleep, but then she came out again, holding a document between her
fingers.
He immediately recognized the document as the divorce agreement he had
signed before. The instant he laid his eyes on it, he started breaking out in
nervous sweat. He even tried to lighten the mood as he teased, âDid you go
to such lengths to drag me back just to understand what the divorce
agreement is about?â
âCall me Ms. Quillen one more time, and Iâll sign a document just like this
again.â She simply wanted to see who was more reluctant to divorce-her or
Emmanuel.
Luckily, although Emmanuel hadnât fully grasped her temperament, he knew
she was competitive. So, he quickly compromised, saying, âI wonât call you
that again if you donât like it. Thereâs no need to threaten me, okay?â
Suddenly, her angry expression was replaced with a smile. âSo, youâre afraid
of my threats? It seems like youâre fond of me.
