Dozens of amusement park attendants tried to lift the Ferris wheel, but the

heavy structure just wouldn’t budge.

It was too early to tell whether Hubert was lucky or not. His head was trapped

under the iron railing of the cabin. The whole structure didn’t collapse on him.

Otherwise, the Ferris wheel would’ve crushed his head instantly instead of

only disfiguring him.

To remove the railing, they either needed to cut it with an electric saw or lift

the entire Ferris wheel.

However, Hubert would be a goner by the time they got an electric saw.

Emmanuel finally walked over to the crowd. He joined them with a yell when

everyone tried to lift the Ferris wheel again.

The crowd was about to witness a miracle.

The Ferris wheel actually budged this time.

Rhea covered her mouth in astonishment while Tia had a surprised look on

her face.

Even Roselynn watched Emmanuel with her mouth agape. Since when did he have such incredible strength?

“No… No… Don’t you dare save me… I don’t want to be in debt to you…” Hubert,

barely alive, protested between consciousness and unconsciousness.

The Ferris wheel crashed to the ground again once they dragged Hubert out

from the debris. It was only then that Emmanuel released his grip on the

Ferris wheel. The crashing was deafening.

Hubert, the second son of the Verkade family, finally passed out once he was

safe. He ended up having sunken cheeks and a bloodied face, which was a

total miserable mess.

The next moment, the sound of the blaring sirens pierced the air.

Ashton and her subordinates swiftly arrived at the scene.

We received a report about a major accident that occurred here. Everyone’s cooperation with the investigation will be required.”

She shouted at the crowd, discovering that Emmanuel was among them

again. A hint of anger immediately flashed in her eyes.

“Did you follow me everywhere I go? Just how much trouble have you

caused? Sooner or later, I’ll bring you to justice!”

Her accusation shocked Emmanuel.

“Are you out of your mind, Miss Ashton? Will you please think before you

speak? Mind your words, or else we’ll sue you!” Roselynn jumped to

Emmanuel’s defense by confronting Ashton.

She had talked to Emmanuel before, so she knew that Ashton had been

making things difficult for him and even physically assaulted him when the

two were alone in a small room.

Even though Roselynn was the one targeting Ashton, Ashton ignored her.

Instead, Ashton turned to Emmanuel and mocked, “I underestimated you,

Emmanuel. You’ve got some guts!”

She had always believed that Emmanuel was a scumbag because she

always found a new face beside him. And they’re always more beautiful than

the previous one!

She shot him a warning with a glare. Don’t let me catch you causing any

trouble again, or I’ll make you suffer!

“Let’s get this straight, Miss Ashton. We are the victims here. I suspect

someone tampered with the Ferris wheel to kill us!” Emmanuel told her the

truth.

However, Ashton sneered. “You’re a delusional paranoid. Did you just tell me

someone tampered with the Ferris wheel just to kill a certain person, which is

you? Are you implying that someone plotted against your life? You, of all

people? I don’t think you’re worth it.”

Emmanuel replied thoughtfully, “That’s right. I suspect Hubert has something

to do with it. He just attacked me with an air gun earlier. Knowing him, he isn’t’

smart enough to plot this. It’s possible that Magnus or Gautier instigated him

to do so.”

Ashton was taken aback momentarily before she forced a laugh out of her.

Emmanuel and the others watched her laugh.

Her mock came afterward. “Don’t you think maybe you’re just being

paranoid? It happens to those who have an inflated ego. Wake up. You aren’t

worth their time.”

Who does he think he is? What makes him think he is worth Magnus and Mr.

Gautier’s attention?

“How about saying it to my face?” Just as the words left Ashton, an angry

voice called her out.

“C-Captain Payne?!” She turned around in surprise, wondering why Sage

would arrive at this place.

After all, someone of his rank shouldn’t need to handle such a case.

“Go investigate the scene. Stop wasting your time talking nonsense! This

case is a planned murder.” The moment Sage spoke, he jumped to

conclusions.

Even though he hadn’t listened to the whole story, he sided with Emmanuel

unconditionally. After all, they were comrades.
