Bryan agreed without hesitation They decided to go to the press conference together on the 19th.

Humming, Caroline walked into the kitchen and started preparing dinner.

She didn’t know what Kirk was up to these days. He would always leave in the afternoon and come home for dinner. But she’d never checked up on him since she trusted him completely.

Kirk opened the door and walked in, just in time to see Caroline busy in the kitchen. His heart swelled in an instant, and he went to hug her from behind.

Startled, Caroline turned around and saw Kirk. She said in surprise, “Why were you so quiet?”

“What are you making?” Kirk lifted the lid of the pot, and the aroma of food wafted out.

“Tomato salsa Caroline pushed Kirk away. “Get out of here. Don’t mess up things here.“”

Kirk stood at the door, motionless. He said cheekily, “I’ll leave if you give me a kiss.”

Speechless, Caroline turned back to cook. “Bryan dropped by today.”

Kirk took off his suit jacket. He asked curiously, “Oh, why did he come to see you?”

“He came to talk about you.” As Caroline talked, she plated up the tomato salsa.

“What did you guys say about me?” Kirk helped put the cutlery and plates on the table.

Caroline pondered for a moment, then said with a smile, “He told me you have a friend who’s a talented doctor. Hey, what’s his name?”

Now she finally understood why Kirk had become fast friends with Sean. Both of them were medical students, so they had some common ground.

Kirk froze. He quickly pulled Caroline into his arms, softly caressing the skin on her neck. He asked, “What else did he tell you?”

“We just talked about the time when you were in school.” Caroline excitedly turned around, not noticing anything unusual about Kirk.

She mused, “Hey, I think Bryan is a pretty interesting guy.”

“Interesting?” Kirk’s tone turned dangerous, and he pinched Caroline’s neck. “You like him?”

“Yeah.” Caroline commented, “He’s much cuter than his sister.”

Kirk turned Caroline, making her face him. He stared at her with dark eyes and said, “You player, are you getting tired of me so soon?”

Caroline laughed, noticing the hint of jealousy in his tone. “What? I like him as a younger brother.”

Kirk pinned Caroline against the table’s edge, putting them even closer together. He bit her lips and looked at her bewitchingly.

He said bossily, to the point of being unreasonable, “You can’t like him at all, even as a brother…”

Caroline didn’t know how to react. As Kirk’s kiss became more intense, she finally noticed that something was off and weakly grabbed Kirk’s arm. She stammered, “L–let’s eat…”

Later, in bed, Caroline kicked Kirk on the shin. “I’m hungry.”

“Okay,” Kirk agreed. He was already satiated, happy, and full of energy. He got out of bed and warmed up the food for Caroline.

After dinner, Caroline and Kirk discussed buying gifts for her new colleagues.

Caroline didn’t understand at all. “This is a social courtesy. Don’t you buy gifts for your colleagues when you go on a trip?”

Kirk frowned. Charles usually handled these things, so he didn’t need to bother about them at all.

Seeing this, Caroline asked, “Do you want me to buy something for you?”

“No.” Kirk kissed her cheek. “What do you need? I’ll get … I’ll buy them for you.”

Caroline frowned slightly. “I don’t know.”

At any rate, she had a few more days, so she could slowly figure it out.

Soon, the 19th arrived. Kirk went out early in the morning, so Caroline couldn’t inform him about where she was going.

The two sat down.

Caroline looked at the stage, saying expectantly, “I heard that SY Group’s president will be here today.”

Bryan reeled back in his seat, almost falling to the ground. “W–what did you say?”

“SY Group’s president will be here today.”

Noticing Bryan’s pale face, Caroline asked, “What’s wrong? Is your toothache really that bad?”

Wanting to leave, Bryan grabbed Caroline’s hand, but he heard the host’s voice from the stage just then “The press conference is about to begin. Everyone, please remain seated…”

Bryan quickly looked at the door. It had already closed. He was doomed.

Caroline asked in confusion, “What’s wrong, Bryan? If your tooth really hurts, why don’t you go to a hospital?”

Bryan didn’t know how to respond to that. He simply said, “Caroline, stay here for now. I’m going to make a call.”

After that, he trotted to the corridor.

Caroline frowned, feeling perplexed After walking out of the venue, Bryan quickly dialed Avery’s number. “Bad news, Avery. I screwed up!”

Avery had been in a bad mood for the past few days. She sneered, “When have you not screwed up?

“I’m serious this time, Avery.” Bryan briefly explained what happened to his sister.

He said anxiously, “Kirk had just warned me two days ago, but now I’ve brought Caroline to SY Group’s press conference. As soon as Caroline sees Kirk, she’ll understand everything. When that happens, Kirk is going to kill me.”

After Avery listened to her brother, she was silent for a moment. Her bad mood had vanished. Her brain was working at full speed, and she soon came up with an idea.

“Don’t panic. I’ll call Kirk and tell him that Caroline is there. Then, he’ll just cancel the press conference.”

“Are you sure that’ll work?” Bryan asked uncertainly.

“Of course, now get back in there. Caroline will definitely become suspicious if you’re gone for too long.”

Bryan had grown up with his parents coddling him. So he had an innocent mind. He was completely unaware of what his sister was planning.

“All right. I’ll head back in there. Everything is up to you, Avery.”

After hanging up the phone, Avery smirked.

For the past few days, she had been racking her brain trying to figure out how to tell Caroline about Kirk’s true identity nonchalantly. To her surprise, her foolish brother had given her the help she needed.
