Chapter 214
Bogus Billionaire
âSheâs just inhumane, isnât she? I never knew she was a freeloader back home!â
âShe abandoned her parents after getting married. Saying that sheâs lost her brain cells would be an understatement.â
âIs it really worth it for her to do all this for an ordinary office employee?â
Caroline strode into the design department in her high heels. She heard tons of whispers about her.
She walked through the office area calmly.
Some people keenly noticed her walking by and hurriedly signaled their companions to quiet down.
Soon, the office became dead silent.
Caroline didnât say anything in response. There was no point in doing so. She might as well prove her innocence with cold, hard facts.
When she pushed the door to her office open, she saw Vivian sitting Inside.
Caroline raised her eyebrows in surprise and asked, âWhat are you doing in my office?â
âOf course Iâm here to see you, Caroline. Youâre trending on the internet. How are you planning to deal with it?â
âThat is a personal matter.â Caroline sat on her chair, feeling uncomfortable.
She said, âI have nothing to say.â
Vivian paid close attention to Carolineâs expression.
Seeing that Caroline didnât use the computer, Vivian let out a sigh. She walked over and put both hands on the table, looking at Caroline with a halfâsmile.
âAlthough this is your personal matter, itâll be bad if it affects the companyâs reputation.â
Caroline sneered, âYouâre just an assistant director, but youâre talking back to your superior. Arenât you afraid that Iâll fire you?â
âYou wouldnât dare.â
Caroline grinned. âWhy wouldnât I? If you constantly make trouble for me and delay our companyâs work progress, forget meâI doubt even Mr. Hawkins will indulge you.â
Vivian grimaced at her words. But somehow she smiled again. She mocked, âYou wonât be smiling much longer, Caroline.â She turned around and left the office.
Caroline thought Vivian was referring to Sarahâs accusations, so she didnât take her words to heart.
She still felt uncomfortable in her seat, even after she had turned on the computer. She adjusted her chair and finally found a comfortable position.
Caroline frowned, staring at her chair in suspicion. Her chair was in a fixed position and had no wheels.
Whenever she got off work, she would stand up and leave without shifting the chair. She had never felt uncomfortable sitting in this chair.
Caroline thought about Vivian, who had just left. She called Cheryl into her office. âCheryl, did you know Vivian came into my office just now?â
Cheryl panicked. She stuttered, âIâI didnât know that. SâSusan asked me to take some documents to Mr. Hawkins just now.â
Caroline frowned and said sternly, âSo, you just listen to whatever she says?â
1-1 Cheryl didnât know how to respond.
âYouâd better remember that Iâm your superior, not Susan.â Noticing that Cheryl was about to cry, Caroline sighed.
âCheryl, this is a workplace. No one will show sympathy if you cry. Anyone who wants to come into my office needs my permission first. Do you understand?â
Cheryl nodded, desperately holding back the tears in her eyes. âYes. I understandâ
+15 BONOS After Caroline asked Cheryl to leave, she began to check her office. There were no signs of Vivian tampering with important documents or opening the drawers. So, why had she come in here?
Caroline stared at the chair. Did Vivian just sit in her chair to experience what it was like to be the design director?
She was lost in thought when the phone rang. It was a call from Star King Public Relations. It was the best public relations agency in the industry. Many celebrities liked working with them.
