Chapter 230
Bogus Billionaire
Ivanâs voice was sharp. It was a little out of control.
Kirk held back the smile on his face. He said proudly, âOf course she is.â
âBut you never told me that sheâs Giselleâs granddaughter!â
âGiselle? Giselle Cassidy?â Kirk narrowed his eyes and deduced, âYou know Carolineâs grandma?â
Ivan let out a long sigh. âIf I remember correctly, Caroline is the wife your uncle had arranged for his grandson. And you marriedâ¦*
Kirkâs face darkened as he cut Ivan off. âCarrie has nothing to do with the Morrisons. Sheâs married to me. Sheâs not someone elseâs fiancée.
Ivan protested, âYour uncle will never agree to your marriage with Caroline!â
âHow do you know that?â
Ivan sighed, âBecause Caroline is very important to him.â
âSheâs more important to me than my own life.â
Kirk said coldly. âI wonât let anyone take her away from me, even if it means Iâll lose my life.â
Seeing his sonâs devotion to Caroline, Ivan stopped trying to persuade him.
After hanging up the phone, he sighed helplessly. Looking at the direction of the sunset, he murmured, âTheyâre doomed! Theyâre really doomedâ¦â
He prayed that Kirk wouldnât end up like him. He didnât want his son to turn against his family and lose the only family he had.
At Evans Group, a gloomy atmosphere permeated the conference room. Evans Groupâs shareholders were sitting at the table with Dan.
The companyâs share prices had fallen due to Sarahâs accusations. The shareholders had already been unhappy with how Dan handled the company and how it wasnât bringing in profits. Now, they were fighting with him even more.
âMr. Evans, shouldnât you give us a reasonable explanation for this?â
Danâs face turned pale from everyoneâs aggressive attitude. He said, âIâI have nothing to say.â
âThen, go home and take a break! At any rate, weâll appoint a new CEO next month, so weâll let him handle it!â
Dan looked at the shareholders in disbelief. He asked, âAre you kicking me out?â
âYouâve barely contributed to the company after being in office for many years.â No one had been able to stand him for a long time.
âIf the Morrisons werenât backing us, we wouldnât have bothered ourselves with you. Besides, If thereâs still someone capable in your family, ask them to replace you! Thatâll make all of us happy!â
âBut Morrison Corp is backing our company because Iâm Eddyâs fatherâinâlaw!â
âNot anymore! Your daughter has already cut ties with you. Even if she decides to marry Mr. Eddy in the future, you wonât be his fatherâin- law!â
These words hit the nail on Danâs head. He slumped down on his chair, regretting listening to Laylaâs suggestion to accuse Caroline.
When he returned home, he found it covered with red paint and dung. What happened to Caroline was now happening to him.
Worried that someone would try and kill him, he hurriedly opened the door and entered the villa.
However, the atmosphere at home was even more depressing.
Sarah continued crying until her voice became hoarse. âHow could she do this to us? No matter what, we were the ones who raised herâ¦â
Dan was a little annoyed. He scolded, âYou were the one who agreed to Laylaâs plans, werenât you?â
Both of them argued and almost got into a light.
Dan realized that this couldnât go on. He gritted his teeth and urged Sarah, âApologize to Caroline and tell her we were wrong! We need her to come back! We will never force her to marry Eddy again!â
Sarah refused. âIâm not apologizing! Iâm not in the wrong!â
âIf you donât apologize, the company and this villa will all be gone!â
Sarah was stunned by his words. âWâwhat did you say?â
âThose people have long wanted to replace me. They have an annual CEO election as a mere formality, but this year, they want to choose the successor. They will support the new CEO. Do you know what that means?â
Sarahâs face was pale. She couldnât say anything.
