Chapter 411
Bogus Billionaire
Adrian didnât want to bring up that man. âIâm not sure, maybe because we havenât gotten any information about Eddyâs second uncle.
âAfter all, I heard the Collinses had signed a contract with him, and now theyâre joining the entertainment industry together.â
At the mention of Eddyâs second uncle, Andrea said, âThat man is really mysterious. I guess no one except the Morrisons knows what he looks like.â
She paused, then continued, âBecause his merger of various cosmetic brands was too highâprofile, many people thought he was a conspicuous person.
âThey waited for his official announcement to find out which field of work he would join this time. Unexpectedly, he did all of this under the radar.â
If SY Group hadnât appeared in several investments, the Sorkins wouldnât have discovered that SY Group and the Collinses were cooperating so much.
âIt was strange for Eddyâs second uncle to be so conspicuous the last time. Keeping a low profile is his preference,â Adrian said.
âThatâs right,â Andrea agreed. âThatâs why many people are speculating about why he made such a splash in the news back then.â
Adrian had already entered the boarding lounge. He looked around and quickly found Caroline.
âMaybe Iâll find out when I go to Macldo.â He hastened his pace, and he began talking faster.
âWeâll talk about this later, Andrea. Oh yeah, remember to cover for me. Iâll head to Macldo after I handle things in Macovo.â
âOkay, no problem!â
Adrian had already hung up the phone when he approached Caroline.
Caroline asked with a smile, âWere you talking to your girlfriend?â
Adrianâs smile froze, but he still nodded, so Caroline would lower her guard around him.
Gwen asked, âWhy donât you tell us about your girlfriend, Mr. Sorkin?â
Adrianâs gaze drifted to Gwen with a faint smile on his face. Outsiders had a more objective view of things, so he couldnât underestimate Carolineâs best friend.
âSure. We met through a matchmaker.â
Gwen asked, âBut an outstanding man like you doesnât need to go on blind dates, do you?â
Adrian said in return, âMatchmaking has nothing to do with how excellent you are. It just allows people to find the person who best suits them in the shortest possible time.â
Gwen disagreed. âThatâs not necessarily true. Some matchmakers just want to make a quick buck.
They would pair anyone as long as theyâre living human beings.â
Adrian smiled. âIâve never encountered that before.â
He turned his head and asked Caroline, âHave you encountered a situation like this, Carrie?â
Caroline looked up at Adrian blankly, as if she had been called out. âHuh?â
âWhat are you so lost in thought about?â Adrian asked with a bright smile.
Caroline shook her head. She wasnât thinking of anything. She felt like her heart was anticipating something, but she didnât know what exactly she was hoping for.
It wasnât until she got on the plane and instinctively looked at the security gate that she realized what she was waiting for.
She was expecting Kirk to show up at the gate to see her, like those romantic scenes in a TV show.
Caroline wanted to laugh at herself. She felt like she had been poisoned with a very, very potent drug.
It was clear Kirk had deceived her, so why was she still thinking about him? Maybe she wouldnât think about him anymore after she left Easton.
With her mind in a trance, Caroline gradually fell asleep.
When she woke up, she was shocked to find Kirk beside her. She almost jumped to her feet in shock, but Kirk grabbed her wrist.
âDarling â¦â Kirk looked at her affectionately.
He said, âI didnât marry another woman abroad. The evidence you saw was fake.â
