Chapter 499
Bogus Billionaire
Cheryl was confused when she came into the office. âMr. Lane,â he said.
Charles threw a panicked glance at Caroline. He really didnât know how to explain things. Thus, he could only try to keep her calm.
âMadam, there must be a misunderstanding here. Please calm down first. Donât act rashly.â
After saying that, Charles rushed to leave. He had to tell Kirk about this as soon as possible.
In the beginning, he had submitted documents to say that Kirk was already married so that Jude wouldnât become suspicious. However, the documents never stated who Kirkâs wife was.
Caroline must have found out about this from that mystery person. Charles was sure about it.
se Charles left, the strength that had been holding Caroline together disappeared. She slumped hair as her complexion turned pale.
is, Cheryl got a huge fright. She felt extremely worried for Caroline.
âCarolineâ¦â she called.
Caroline waved her off. âGet Sonia to come in,â she said.
Cheryl tried again. âCaroline.â
âIâm fine. The audition for the role of the female lead in âDaughter of the Seaâ is tomorrow. We donât have much more time. Hurry and have Sonia come in.â
Although she was saying this to Cheryl, she meant it for herself. Caroline had to put all her focus into Sonia. She would help Sonia get the lead female role.
Caroline wanted to prove to the Morrison family, especially to Kirk, that not everyone would be their plaything. They couldnât do whatever they pleased with them!
Helpless, Cheryl could only summon Sonia.
In the SY Groupâs branch office, Charles was panting. He even forgot to knock before he barged into Kirkâs office.
âSir, weâre in trouble,â Charles said, still out of breath.
âThe madam has found out that youâre Mr. Eddyâs second uncle!â
Kirkâs expression became stormy. His knuckles went white where he held the armrests. âWhat did you say?â
âI just went to see the madam. She told me your wife abroad is Daphne Dawson, and Daphne is Mr.
Eddyâs second uncleâs wife.
âI think she only guessed that youâre Mr. Eddyâs second uncle because she found out that Daphne is your wife. But I never gave a name for your wife on your papers-â
Before Charles could finish speaking, Kirk grabbed him by the collar.
âDid she say anything else? Was she very angry?â
Charles was at a loss for words. He thought that Kirk had missed the point.
âI I was only thinking that I had to rush back to you. I wasnât paying attention â¦â Charles didnât dare to tell the truth.
Looking at Kirkâs reddened eyes carefully, he repeated carefully, âSir, I didnât give a name for your wife on the papers.â
He elaborated, âThat means the madam wouldnât have been able to know your wife is Daphne even if she managed to contact the higherâups in Macldoâs administration.
âDo you think that⦠Ms. Dawsonâ¦â Charles hesitated.
Kirk had a vein bulging at his temple. Feeling worked up, he said, âSpit it out!â
âThis is only a guess.â Charles swallowed.
âCould Ms. Dawson have told the madam about this?â
Kirk suddenly let Charles go. âInvestigate it immediately!â
âYes, sir.â Charles turned to leave in a hurry.
Kirk rubbed his nose before picking up his phone hesitantly. When he unlocked the phone, he was met with the sight of Carolineâs sweet smile.
He had never dared to imagine how Caroline would feel if she found out he was a member of the
