Chapter 505

Onstage, the first few people to audition were the minor celebrities. They probably hadn’t even taken a single glance at the script. They made a mess of the audition.

After watching a few of these auditions, Caroline lost interest in watching more.

Marietta was the same.

Backstage, Daphne was also watching the performances. Seeing how badly the others were doing, she finally relaxed.

She looked at Sonia, who was still memorizing her lines, and said mockingly, “No matter how well you do or how well you know the lines, I’ll still be the star of the show. That’s why Daphne got up and walked behind Sonia. Purposefully bending down, she said in Sonia’s ear, Having skills is useless. The best is to get a backer.”

Sonia looked up and frowned. “Ms. Dawson, you’re disturbing me.”

Daphne immediately slapped the script out of Sonia’s grip. “What’s the act for? I’m telling you now. If you hadn’t been popular right now, I would have had you blacklisted. Do you believe that?”

Sonia swallowed. She didn’t answer Daphne but bent to pick up the script instead.

Seeing this, Daphne reacted by stepping on it. She forcefully tilted Sonia’s head up. Narrowing her eyes, she settled her sharp gaze on Sonia.

“You really think you can be so haughty because you have Caroline backing you?”

“That’s not it.”

Although Sonia wanted to beat Daphne up, she could only back down given who Daphne was.

There was nothing she could do when Daphne was Eddy’s second aunt. If she offended Daphne, she wouldn’t be able to survive in the entertainment industry anymore..

“How dare you lie about it?” Daphne gritted her teeth.

“Weren’t you cursing me in your heart when I hit you last time?”

“No, I really wasn’t.” Although Sonia was pleading, there was no hint of defeat in her eyes.

This made Daphne even more enraged. She lifted her hand to slap Sonia.

Right then, her manager’s voice came from behind her. “Daph, it’s your turn. Why haven’t you gone onstage?”

Daphne let Sonia go with a shove. “You lucked out.”

After saying this, she walked toward her manager on her high heels with her script in hand.

“Have you drafted the Twitter post?”

Before coming, Daphne had gotten her manager to prepare a Twitter post. It was an announcement that she had gotten the lead role in “Daughter of the Sea“.

The manager smiled deviously. “It’s been ready for a long time. Once the audition is over, it will post automatically.”

Daphne raised an eyebrow as she looked at Sonia, who was still bent over to pick up her script.

She had said this intentionally for Sonia to hear. She wanted Sonia to know that Caroline was nothing!

Once she got the lead role in “Daughter of the Sea” and her popularity overshot Sonia’s, she would sit back and watch as Morrison Corp and Collins Group worked together to blacklist Sonia.

When the time came, not even God, much less Caroline, would be able to save Sonia.

That was the price to pay for offending her.

Daphne walked onstage in her high heels. At once, she spotted Caroline below the stage. Due to her higher vantage point, she also saw Kirk sitting next to Caroline.

Though Kirk was wearing a mask, Daphne could recognize him instantly as her fake husband.

However, she quickly considered the possibility that he could be Caroline’s husband instead.

Seeing that the man was wearing a mask, she thought that he had to be very ugly. Otherwise, why else would he be wearing a mask?

After that, Daphne turned to look at Marietta. When she did, the look in her eyes changed. It became full of warmth and admiration, along with anticipation.

After all, all the actors who starred in Marietta’s plays could go from being nameless nobodies to the world’s top stars.
