Chapter 589
Bogus Billionaire
Caroline wasnât one to gossip. She wanted to ask Cook about what had happened.
Just then, she heard someone mumble timidly from behind her. âSorry!â
She frowned upon hearing the voice. The person who was apologizing was none other than Cheryl.
Turning around, Caroline looked in the direction of Cherylâs voice to see a haggardâlooking Cheryl standing at the door of a fitting room with a bundle of clothes in one arm.
A woman with an ugly frown stood some distance away from Cheryl and the fitting room.
Her wrathful face made her look as though she was a cat whose tail had just been stepped on.
A tall woman with prominent facial features stood behind the angry woman.
Caroline instantly recognized the tall woman. She was Aurora Jenner, the infamous actress who was known worldwide.
As one of the first few actresses who had made a name for herself in Macldo, she had been Eastonâs pride.
Nevertheless, she was no longer brought up that often ever since she changed her nationality and became a Macldian.
Caroline only knew about her because Aurora had returned to Easton for career purposes. Besides, she had also gotten into a relationship with Aiden Hackettâs son, Asher.
That was why Caroline managed to recognize her at first glance. The person standing in front of her, presumably her assistant, was still cursing at Cheryl.
âDo you really think weâll forgive you just because you apologized?â she snapped:
âWhy would we even need the police if apologies could solve everything?â
âAre you saying that one can only atone for their sins through death?â
Caroline couldnât stand it anymore, so she stood in front of Cheryl to shield her from the furious woman, who was indeed Auroraâs assistant, Amy.
Amy didnât falter, even when Caroline stepped up to rebuke her. Instead, she seemed even more arrogant than before.
âItâs good that you have at least this bit of selfâawareness. Just die already and show that youâre sorry.â
Caroline furrowed her brows at those words. A moment later, though, she let out a bark of laughter and slapped Amy across the face.
âYour level of selfâawareness is pretty high, eh? Shouldnât you die already to apologize for tainting my hand by making me slap you?â
Amy was livid with rage, so much so that her face was as red as a ripe tomato.
Part of the reason that her face was so red was that Caroline had used quite a lot of strength.
Besides that, Amyâs face was also red with humiliation and fury.
Although Aurora often bossed her around, the others in the entertainment industry followed her orders all the time because of Auroraâs status. No one had ever had the guts to hit her like this.
With her hands raised, Amy advanced toward Caroline like an angry beast pouncing on its prey.
However, Caroline shoved her, making her fall to the ground. It happened so quickly that Amy looked up from the floor in a daze.
Caroline stared and smiled mockingly at her. âLetâs go, Cheryl.â
If they couldnât shop at this store, they could simply shop somewhere else. There was no way that all the stores had crazy people in them.
âStop right there!â Amy shrieked as she got up from the ground and blocked Carolineâs path.
âJust wait! Iâm calling the cops, and Iâll have you two locked up!â
Caroline ignored Amy and glanced at Aurora, who was watching the whole fiasco unfold in silence.
Nevertheless, Caroline had had her fair share of interactions with people in the entertainment industry. Auroraâs indifference was proof that she had enabled Amy to be so selfâconceited.
Otherwise, she wouldnât have kept quiet. By doing so, she could put the blame on Amy if the public found out about this in the future.
To put it simply, the most significant thing in the entertainment industry was the actions of those around the stars instead of what the stars themselves did.
âItâs just a slap, yet youâre making a fuss by calling the cops. I wonât stop you, though.â
