Chapter 591

The second Marietta saw Aurora, her expression instantly turned cold. She asked, “Who are you?

Do I know you?”

Aurora choked at that, her face nearly twisting up.

Then, she managed to say, “Hello. My name is Aurora Jenner. I’m a fan of yours.”

Marietta looked her up and down. She was a very good judge of a character. With one glance, she could immediately see what sort of person Aurora was. She didn’t want to speak to Aurora at all.

She walked over to Caroline and said intimately, “Carrie, what’s going on?”

She had heard the sound of someone being hit just now. But she hadn’t followed after Caroline.

For thing, she was a well–known person. So she got involved, the matter would escalate.

Secondly, she was an outsider, so she wasn’t at leisure to intervene. That was why she had stayed in the lounge.

However, Caroline hadn’t returned even after Marietta had waited for a long time. Feeling ill at ease, she had come over to take a look.

Caroline replied, “I’m fine, Aunt Mary. I just bumped into some weirdos.”

When Amy heard Caroline calling her a weirdo, she immediately got mad. “Who are you calling a weirdo?”

Aurora was so shocked by the familiar way Caroline had addressed Marietta that she couldn’t even speak.

How could Caroline call Marietta “Aunt Mary“? What was their relationship?

Aurora forcefully pulled Amy aside and inhaled a breath. She stared at Caroline in disbelief. “You know each other?”

Caroline frowned. “Is it something to you?”

Aurora looked at Marietta again, but only found the older woman looking at Caroline with a warm, gaze she had never seen before.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say it was the kind of look one would give their own daughter.

“You called her “aunt“. Are you related?”

Hearing that, Marietta frowned, just like Caroline was.

Wearing similar expressions, they looked quite alike.

“Were you bullying our Carrie just now?” Marietta’s stern eyes landed on Aurora.

The way Marietta called her “our Carrie” made Caroline’s heart melt into a puddle.

Aurora opened her mouth, losing the previous arrogance and rudeness she had used with Caroline before.

“I–I didn’t… Ms. Weiss, please let me explain.” She was so nervous that she was completely incoherent.

Marietta scoffed. “There’s no need to explain. The truth is clear. I heard someone say something along the lines of ‘it’s good enough that I’m not asking you to kneel‘.”

She chuckled. “Even an actress with a Lifetime Achievement Golden Curtain Award wouldn’t be as haughty as you two.”

She continued, “And here I thought some superstar had arrived. But it’s just two insignificant nobodies.”

Aurora’s face became mottled.

Ever since she had become the first batch of Eastonian talents to establish themselves in Macldo when she was in her 20s, she had always thought that she was a household name.

Suddenly being called a nobody, especially by a world–renowned playwright, made her feel awful.

Yet she didn’t dare to fight back. She could only bite her lip hard.

“Carrie,” Marietta turned to Caroline and asked, “how do you think such a person should be dealt with?”

Caroline looked into Marietta’s eyes. Her own were wet.

Ever since she had married Kirk, Caroline had finally seen her parents‘ true behavior.

They didn’t actually love her. At the time, they were only hoping for her to become Eddy’s wife.

Thus, all of the love and care that they had shown her back then had come with an ulterior motive.

But Marietta was different. She had defended Caroline with genuine earnestness. It wasn’t because of who Caroline was or what benefits she could bring to Marietta.

The kind of familial love that Caroline had never gotten a taste of made her want to hug Marietta.

However, she held herself back.
