Chapter 667

After showering, Caroline picked up her phone and saw several missed calls. All of them were from Dan.

She looked at her phone in suspicion. Dan hadn’t contacted her for a long time. The last time he had done so felt like a century ago.

The moment Caroline put her phone down, the screen lit up again. Then, her finger slipped, and she pressed the answer button.

She was about to hang up when she heard Dan’s voice. “Caroline, you truly know how to make a scene. You finally answered the phone after I called you so many times.”

“I can still change my mind about that. If you don’t get to the point, I can hang up the phone any time,”

Caroline said unkindly.

Dan seemed really afraid that Caroline would hang up, so he quickly said, “You need to go to the police station and bail Layla out.”

They were planning to go all out to buy Collins Group, but they couldn’t continue with their plans if Layla got arrested.

What Dan hadn’t expected was for Caroline to be the one behind her arrest. That made him deduce that Caroline got Layla arrested because she was already aware of their plans.

Caroline asked, “Layla got arrested?” The police sure were efficient. She reminded herself to reward them for that.

“Okay, I know she got arrested because of you. I’m warning you. If you don’t bail her out, I’ll make you lose everything!”

Caroline almost laughed at his words. She sat down and asked calmly, “Tell me then. How are you going to make me lose everything?”

“Ugh!” Dan never expected his words toward Layla to be a liability for him.

“No matter what, she’s still your family. How could you be so cruel as to send your relatives to prison?

A girl like her can’t survive in a place like-”

Caroline interrupted Dán’s rambling. “Don’t pull the relative card on me. You don’t have the right to do that.

“Also, I’m not going to bail her out. You should really find out what she did to me before asking me to save her.”

She paused and continued, “But I know you both too well. You’ll still take her side, even if you know what she has done.

“Sometimes, I can’t help but ask myself if I’m really your daughter. It’s funny how you treat Layla better than me.”

Dan felt an ominous premonition. He stammered, “W–What are you saying? W–We didn’t treat you too badly …”

Caroline didn’t want to keep talking to him. The past didn’t mean anything to her anymore.

She simply wanted to embrace the happiness she felt in the present. So she immediately hung up the phone.

Dan continued to ramble on about how well he had treated Caroline. But after getting no response, he realized Caroline had hung up without warning. He was so angry that he almost threw his phone on the ground.

Seeing this, Sarah came over and asked, “Hubby, did that bitch disagree with your request?”

Dan took a shaky breath.

Sarah suggested, “Why don’t we-”
