“Shut up!” Dan interrupted Sarah before she could finish. He knew what she wanted to say.

“Can’t you just wait a little longer? Once Layla takes over Collins Group, the Evans family will once again be part of the big four families. When the time comes, we no longer have to sing to Caroline’s tune.”

Sarah asked, “What about Layla?”

“We’ll leave her be, but we can’t let Eddy know about this. Eddy seems to be treating Layla a lot colder recently. At this point, we shouldn’t cause any unnecessary trouble.”

Meanwhile, Caroline had just hung up the phone when she saw Kirk coming upstairs.

Kirk was talking to Edith downstairs. When he heard noises upstairs, he raised his head and asked, “Are you awake?”

Kirk held her down and advised, “Cheryl will be there handling things, so don’t worry. You seem really tired, so you’d better rest at home today.”

The two were chatting when Edith walked over with the phone. “Madam, Ms. Weiss is calling. She said she has something to ask you.

Caroline took the phone. She asked, “What’s wrong, Mom?”

On the phone, Marietta spoke in a tone different from the others. “… Carrie, I need your help with something. But if it will put you on the spot, you can refuse.”
