Yvonne didn’t need Caroline’s opinion either and continued venting her repressed frustrations.

“I like him. I really do. I’ve been secretly in love with him since we were kids. Although everyone said he was an illegitimate child and wouldn’t be useful to the family, I couldn’t stop myself from falling in love with him.”

Yvonne contínued, “When he agreed to be set up with me, I thought he liked me too. But it turns out he already likes someone else.”

Caroline remained silent until Yvonne was done ranting. Then, she said, “You should get a good night’s sleep. Perhaps then you won’t feel so awful when you wake up the next day.”

“Really?” Yvonne murmured.

Caroline kept the call on until she heard the sound of snoring. After that, she ended the call.

“Why did your call take so long?” Kirk had gone to work upstairs so as not to disturb Caroline. But he hadn’t expected more than an hour to pass by before Caroline hung up the phone.

“She just had a breakup, so she needed to vent her feelings.”

Caroline felt distressed after listening to Yvonne’s heartbreaking rant. She felt sorry for everyone who suffered from their romantic relationships.

She and Kirk were really lucky to have come this far, but she didn’t know how long their luck would last.

She no longer had nightmares. However, whenever she felt any hint of happiness, she would hear a sharp voice saying, “Caroline, you’re absolutely heartless!”

Kirk followed Caroline’s line of sight and looked over. Then, he stepped forward to block Caroline’s line of sight and suggested, “Why don’t we move back to the apartment for a while?”
