Chapter 693
Bogus Billionaire
Right then, Sean was holed up in the surveillance room. Looking at Kirk, he said, âKirk, thereâs something strange about Carolineâs expression.â
Kirk followed Carolineâs gaze on the screen.
Sean clicked his tongue. âIndeed, you know Caroline best.â
Sean saw how focused Kirk was on the footage. He didnât seem inclined to respond to Sean at all, so Sean kept his mouth shut and continued watching.
By now, Caroline had already walked up to the man hesitantly. Full of suspicion, she said, âYouâre the president of the SY Group?â
The man thumbed his nose and said with a laugh, âMs. Evans, youâre mistaken. Iâm not Mr. Morrison.
Iâm his assistant.â
Hearing that, Carolineâs expression cleared up. âThen whereâs the president?â
The man smiled. âMs. Evans, please wait a moment. Mr. Morrison will be here soon.â
âAlright.â
âMs. Evans, Mr. Morrison says that you should order first.â
Caroline nodded slightly but didnât make a move. She insisted on waiting for Eddyâs second uncle to arrive. She was worried that this meeting would fall through again. She had been left hanging too many times before already.
Seeing that Caroline had no intentions to order, the man went outside. He marched straight into the surveillance room nearby.
âSir, the missionâs complete,â the man respectfully reported to Kirk.
Kirk nodded. He called Charles and asked him, âIs he here?â
âHeâs downstairs.â
Kirk hung up and said to the other man âGo on, then Yes, sir.
Sean couldnât help but ask, âKirk, youâre already aware that Caroline has met you before. She remembers everything about you. Yet, why are you making it obvious that somethingâs amiss?â
Kirk leaned back into the seat, sinking into the couch. He rubbed his nose and said, âWeâve had countless opportunities to meet in the past. Still, it never happened. Carrie is a smart woman. She might have already thought that weâre the same person.â
He went on, saying, âHowever, love blinded her temporarily. It made her trust me more. Besides, she really doesnât like the Morrison family. Thatâs why she doesnât want me to be one of them.â
Kirk was getting to the point. He explained, âShe might sense that itâs fake if the first person she meets fits the bill perfectly. She would doubt herself and start wondering if she was looking at the real Kirk Morrison.â
Sean sucked his teeth. âKirk, you really do understand Caroline exceptionally wellâ¦â
As he spoke, Sean looked at Kirk with sympathy.
It was exactly because he knew Carolineâs mind so well that Kirk probably knew how much Caroline was suffering now. And, he was the only one who could do so. Thinking of this, Sean couldnât help but âadmireâ Jude Morrison.
Though he had passed on, he was still able to place such huge stumbling blocks between Kirk and Caroline. Sean only hoped that these blocks didnât end up becoming bombs. Even if they did, he hoped they would never explode.
Thinking to himself, Seanâs gaze once again fell on Caroline on the screen.
Right then, the door to the private room opened after a knock. It was the man who had just left.
Caroline stood up. âHas Mr. Morrison arrived?â
