Kirk frowned. “Just tell her.”

Only then did Michael ask, “Ms. Caroline, have you undergone hypnosis before?”

“No.” Caroline remembered that she had never undergone hypnosis.

Michael said, “Now, that’s strange. Your resistance to the hypnosis suggests that you’ve been hypnotized before and have lost your memories of it happening. Otherwise, you wouldn’t act this way.”

He paused. “When it comes to hypnosis, if one’s psyche gets damaged from their first hypnosis, they’ll develop this knee–jerk reaction.

“They’ll react violently every subsequent time they get hypnotized. Therefore, in your case, you must have been hypnotized before, and your psyche was harmed by it.”

Caroline frowned and spent a long time recalling things. “But I really don’t remember undergoing hypnosis.”

At the mention of this, she remembered something. “But I don’t have any memories of the time before I was around five or six years old.”

“Did you get hypnotized at that age?”

When Michael said this, Caroline remembered something else. Sarah had once taken her to see a psychiatrist. Moreover, Sarah seemed to avoid talking about it.

After Kirk seemed calmer, Caroline turned to Michael. “Okay, I’ll figure things out. If I can’t, we’ll proceed with the next plan.”

“Darling!” Kirk gripped Caroline’s hand.

Caroline smiled and stood up from the bed. “We’ll be heading home, Dr. Caldwell.”

“Okay.”

As Michael watched the three of them leave, he couldn’t help but sigh. “I didn’t expect to see the fearless Mr. Kirk submitting to a woman like her.”

When the three of them reached the door, Caroline told Sean, “Sean, Kirk and I have to go somewhere.”

“Got it.” Sean said, “Then, I’ll leave you guys be.” After saying that, he quickly ran away.

After Sean left, Caroline turned to Kirk and said, “Let’s go for a walk, Kirk.”

“Okay.”

And so the two of them walked along the street. Kirk didn’t ask Caroline where they were going, and he didn’t need to ask. He would always follow her, no matter where she went.

“Do you still remember what I told you?” Caroline finally asked.

“About how I didn’t have any memories of the time before I was five or six years old?”

Kirk turned to Caroline, a hint of sadness hidden in his gaze. “So, do you have suspicions that you’ve undergone hypnosis before?”

Caroline said, “That should be the case… If I’m not wrong, the hypnosis must have happened when Sarah had taken me to the hospital.

“The only thing I remember is that I could read the word ‘psychology‘. She had seemed very happy about that… Then, I don’t know why, but As Caroline talked, she frowned, feeling that piercing feeling in her chest again.

Kirk squeezed Caroline’s hand He felt a sense of powerlessness envelop his entire being once more.
