Chapter 83
Bogus Billionaire
âHey, just ignore her. Sheâs nearly gone mad after the gossip about her marriage to Mr. Morrison being a mistake.â Gwen hurriedly opened the lood container with her supper.
She inhaled. âIt smells great. Carol, itâs been a long time since Iâve had your cooking!â
Caroline glanced at the parking lot. âYou go ahead and eat. Iâm going to take some supper to Kirk.â
âWhy the rush? Donât you want to wait until that crazy Brie leaves?â
Caroline smiled. âI can guess who sheâs here to see. I wonât bump into her.â
âAlright, sure.â Gwenâs attention was on the food. âGo ahead then.â
Caroline got up and headed to the parking lot with the food container. Then, she went to the Morrison Corporation building.
Sheâd used to bring food for Eddy when heâd done overtime before. Sheâd gotten used to how coldly he treated her.
Yet she felt nervous as she stood there tonight.
âMs. Evans!â
The security guard recognized Caroline at a glance. He sounded sympathetic as he said, âAre you bringing Mr. Eddy supper? Heâs not here, though.â
Caroline gave a smile. âNo.â
The security guard was shocked. âThen who?â
âItâs forâ¦â For a moment, Caroline didnât know what to say. After a while, she continued, âA friend.â
The security guard glanced at the building, which was nearly all dark. âAre you sending it to the top floor?â
The Morrison Corporation building had 88 floors. The top floor had always been empty, but it had been cleaned up recently. No one in the company knew what that was about, much less the security guard.
The guard had only occasionally seen the lights turn on on the top floor.
Like tonight.
Caroline glanced at the top floor too. Since Gwen said that Kirk had come in, then he must be there.
After all, only the top floor was lit up in the whole building.
âYes.â
The security guard let Caroline through the barrier. He looked at Carolineâs back and scratched his head. âWeird. There should be only one man on the top floor. Why is everyone looking for him?â
Caroline quickly reached the top floor.
The cleanedâup top floor looked brand new. There were understated but luxurious decorations on both sides of the corridor. There was a faint scent of mint in the air, which made Carolineâs heart race.
When she got to the door, Caroline suddenly felt regretful.
Kirk had said they were only partners in bed. If that were true, why should she waste her elfort making him supper?
Wasnât she just looking to embarrass herself?
Caroline clenched her fists and turned around, still hesitating.
When she lowered her head and saw the food container, she gave in again.
Since heâd had to work so late, he must be exhausted and hungry. 1 Caroline gritted her teeth. Gathering her courage, she knocked on the door.
Caroline tensed. That voice was really familiar.
She pushed the door open in a daze.
She saw Brie laid out on the office desk. Her posture was seductive.
Carolineâs food container dropped to the floor.
Brieâs expression changed. She hadnât expected Caroline to be the one coming inside.
She quickly hopped off the desk, tugging at her dress. âWhy are you here?â
Caroline had goosebumps all over. She thought of that lipstick.
âThat lipstick is really yours!â
âWhat lipstick?â Brie touched her newly done hair. Then, she seemed to recall something. âDid you hide the lipstick!â
The first time they met, she had indeed secretly put a tube of lipstick in Mr. Morrisonâs pocket. She had wanted him to come and see her.
It turned out that he hadnât done so because of Caroline.
This bitch Caroline must have pulled some trick!
