Chapter 86
Bogus Billionaire
Since heâd gotten back, Sean had kept going out to look for good food.
Early that morning, he was lazing at home, having breakfast. He still hadnât dug into his fresh croissants when the front door slammed open.
That action was filled with rage, so Sean could tell that the person wasnât anyone nice.
He put down his croissant. Before he could take a few steps, he saw an angry Kirk.
âWhatâs up? Did you get into another fight with Ms. Evans?â
Kirk cast him a look. His lips were flattened into a thin line.
Sean pointed at himself. âDid I offend you?â
That couldnât be right! When had he offended Kirk?
Kirkâs eyes narrowed as he kept silent.
Sean really felt defeated. He handed Kirk a croissant. âThereâs nothing some croissants canât fix. If one canât fix it, have more.â
Kirk tried to keep his anger controlled. âSean Yates.â
Sean sensed that something was amiss. He put his smile away.
âWhatâs going on? How am I supposed to fix it if you donât tell me?â
Kirk shot him a look but still didnât say anything.
Sean didnât back down. âThen Iâll just wait until you want to tell me.â
Caroline made breakfast for Eddy today, as usual. She waited at the door for the bodyguard to come and collect the food.
She glanced at the time. The bodyguard wouldnât be here for another ten minutes, at least. Thus, she took her laptop out.
She wanted to use this time to give her design one last look. If there were no issues, she would send her entry off to the competition organizer.
The second she opened her email, the bodyguard arrived. Hence, Caroline put her laptop aside and went to get the food container.
âHere you go.â
The bodyguard didnât take it. Instead, he looked pained as he said, âMs. Evans, Mr. Eddy has ordered that you must bring it yourself.â
Carolineâs brows furrowed.
âPlease donât make things hard for me.â
Caroline let out a breath and went to get her keys. âI got it.â
The bodyguard smiled at that. âThank you, Ms. Evans.â
Caroline got into the Morrison familyâs car and went to the hospital.
When she arrived at the hospital room, she saw that Eddyâs leg was still elevated. However, his complexion looked much better. It seemed that heâd recovered a lot.
Caroline put the food container on the table and said stiffly, âYour food is here.â
After saying that, she turned to leave.
Eddy called out in a rush, âStand right there!â
Caroline paused in her steps. She looked back and asked, âIs there anything else?â
*Barley ponidge with greens.â
âI donât like any of that.â
For the past few days, Caroline had been making food that he didnât like.
âThen what do you want to eat?â
Caroline looked at him calmly.
Eddy said, âYou know what I like.â
Caroline gave a chuckle. âI really donât.â
âCaroline!â Eddy was provoked into anger. âIf this is your revenge, Iâll admit that youâre succeeding at it.
I only like eating your food.â
Eddy thought that Caroline would feel touched by his words. After all, heâd gone so far as to make such an admission already. Even so, Caroline was unmoved. She even smiled disdainfully.
âEddy, what makes you think you can order me around? Iâm only caring for you because of Grandpa. If it werenât for him, I would have poisoned your food!â
She added, âAlso, I donât care if you eat it or not. Next time, I wonât let you have your way, even if you use Grandpaâs name against me again.â
Caroline said all this in a rush and didnât give Eddy the chance to retort. Then, she turned and left.
Eddy was so angry that his face went purple. However, he had nowhere to vent his fury.
