Chapter 295 The Pickles
Mated To An Enemy
âWhat are you doing here?â Bell asked in surprise, holding the door open.
âIâm happy to see you tooâ¦.â Galen replied.
âSorry!â Bell laughed. âCome in, come in.â
She moved aside so that he could come into the house. Once inside, she closed the door, and he immediately wrapped his arms around her.
âGalen,â she laughed. âSlow down, honey. We are not in our house.â
âI know,â he whispered with his head against her shoulder. âI just wanted to hold you. The rest can wait.â
Bell laughed and wrapped her arms around him.
âIâm glad youâre here,â she whispered back.
âAre you?â he asked. Then, pulling back to give her a mischievous look. âBecause I thought you might close the door on my face just a moment ago.â
Bell laughed.
âSorry,â she said. âI wasnât expecting you.â
âI told you I was coming today.â
âYes, but that was before the party got pushed back to the full moon. I assumed as Beta, you would need to stay for the official Luna welcoming. Isnât that kind of a big deal?â
âYes,â Galen replied, glancing away. âBut they already knew I had scheduled this time to be with you, and I donât want to miss the appointment in the morning.â
âI already rescheduled it when I thought you werenât coming,â Bell replied sadly. âIâm sorry.â.
âOh,â Galen sighed with a look of disappointment. âItâs alright. You didnât know.â
âHow long are you here?â she asked.
âThree days,â he said.
Bell chewed her lower lip. She had rescheduled for a week later.
âLet me make a call,â she said. âPeople owe me favors. I bet I can get my appointment back.â
Galen smiled and gave her a soft kiss.
âThank you,â he whispered.
Bell smiled, a blush in her cheeks at the honest gratitude he showed her for something so simple.
Galen looked around as though he were looking for someone.
âIs anyone home?â he asked.
âNo,â Bell shook her head.
âWhy are you here, then?â he asked.
âOh⦠Uhmâ¦â
âI only found you by accident because I ran into Peter on my way home,â Galen said. âHe was in a hurry to get to the hospital, but he said I would be more likely to find you here than at home.â
âYea⦠well⦠thatâs because⦠Corrine!â Bell said.
âCorrine?â Galen asked. âCorrine is in Summer.â
âYes,â Bell nodded. âBut, with Axel busy in the South taking care of all the details of Frostbiteâs land deal and Wyatt spending so much time training, Corrine asked me to stop by while she was gone.â
âFor what?â
âTo⦠take care of her plants.â
Galen looked around again. Seeing no plants in the room, he looked at Bell.
âTheyâre in her room,â Bell said with a bright smile.
âAlrightâ¦â Galen said, not entirely convinced. But willing to let it go for now. âCan we just go home?â
âYes,â Bell nodded.
âGood,â he said. âI want to get a shower and then hold you in my arms.â
Bell felt the warmth in her chest spreading over her body.
âSounds wonderful,â she smiled.
***
âHey,â Bell called into the bathroom door as she heard the water from the shower turning off.
âYea?â Galen called back.
âI just got off the phone with Peter. He found me an afternoon appointment for tomorrow.â
âThatâs great!â Galen called with excitement. âIâll be right out.â
Bell smiled. She was also excited. It would be the first time they would get to see Ren while actually together instead of over a phone call.
The door opened suddenly, startling her as she jumped back.
âHave you seen my blue shirt?â Galen asked, pretending he didnât see her jump back.
âBlue shirt?â she asked.
âYea, kind of a grey blue color. I usually wear it to bed.â
âAre you sure you brought it?â Bell asked, turning away and walking toward the bed to sit down.
âNo,â Galen said, stepping out of the bathroom. He wore a towel wrapped at his waist and used a smaller towel to dry his hair as he spoke. âIt lives here. I never take it back to Summer because I always wear it here.â
âHmmâ¦â Bell said. âIâm not sure I know what shirt that is.â
Galen tilted his head and eyed her suspiciously. He set the towel in his hand down on the nightstand and took a step forward. Crossing his arms over his chest, he questioned her.
âInteresting because I know you know exactly what shirt Iâm talking about.â
âHow could you possibly know I know what shirt you are talking about?â
âBecause you were wearing it the last time we video chatted before bed.â
Bell cursed in her thoughts. She had forgotten about that. However, she did know exactly what shirt he was talking about because she wore it every night that he was gone. Even freshly washed, it still carried his scent.
Unfortunately, the last few nights, she had been staying in a different house, which was why the shirt was in Ashleighâs room at her parentâs house.
âWellâ¦â Bell said. âI do know what shirt youâre talking about.â
âMmhmm,â Galen smiled. âAnd where is it?â
Bell licked her lips.
âOk, so the truth is⦠I wear it when youâre not here,â Bell said. âBecause it smells like you.â
âI know,â Galen said, moving closer to the bed. âItâs why I love that shirt. Because after you wear it, it smells like you.â
A blush crept into Bellâs cheeks as she thought of him wearing the shirt just for her smell.
âSoâ¦â Galen said. Leaning close to her. âWhere is it?â
Bell licked her lips.
âI had a craving for ice cream yesterday in the middle of the night,â she said. âI was half asleep, and one thing led to another. So itâs in the wash.â
âI seeâ¦â Galen said softly, placing his hand on the bed. He leaned forward, so his mouth was near her ear. âThen I will need to hold you all night, so I can sleep peacefully.â
Bell swallowed as she felt the heat inside her body flowing over her. Only now did she notice his bare chest so close to her. She licked her lips and reached out with her fingertips. She tenderly stroked the stiff muscles of his stomach.
Galen let out a soft growl, and Bell smiled.
âI donât think you need a shirt to sleep in⦠this is much better,â she whispered.
Galen moved his hand against her shoulder and gently pushed her down onto the bed. As he moved over her, she placed her hand against his chest and stopped him.
âWhatâs wrong?â he asked, his voice filled with desire.
âSorry,â she said. âI need to pee, and Iâm hungry.â
She smiled, biting her lower lip. Galen couldnât help but laugh at the cute expression. He moved back and helped her to sit up.
âWhy donât you do what you need to do in the bathroom,â he chuckled. âWhile I head to the kitchen and prepare some food for my wife and child.â
âThat sounds amazing,â Bell smiled brightly. âMake sure to grab some ice cream.â
âOf course,â Galen nodded as Bell stood up and walked past him toward the bathroom.
âOh, and the cheese crackers,â she added.
âAlright,â he said, heading towards the door of their room.
âAnd the strawberries!â she called from inside the bathroom.
âOkay!â Galen laughed as he walked out the door.
âDonât forget the pickles!â she shouted after him.
