My Ex-Wife and Kids Came In Like A Wrecking Ball
Chapter 1338 Penitent Look The Fuller family.
Henryâs phone had been drowned with calls because of the farce in the morning and the pressure given to the other companies by the Lawrence Corporation.
They called him to tell him how bad things were happening in the branch companies or to cancel the partnership with his company.
The Fuller family had been in a bad mood since that morning.
Although Magdalene was worried about her daughter, she did not dare to call Wendy because Henry was around.
At noon, Magdalene had prepared lunch, but Henry did not come downstairs to eat. Hence, even Magdalene did not eat because she had no appetite at the thought of eating alone.
No one touched the dishes until they turned cold.
When Melody came, the first thing she saw was the empty dining area.
Wendyâs room faced the villa door, and she could see the shaky room door when she lifted her head.
âMrs. Lawrence, what are you doing hereâ¦?â
Magdalene recalled what had happened the day before when she saw Melody. Her heart skipped a beat, and she stood up in fear.
Henry, who was in his study, heard the knock and walked out of his room to take a look.
He hung up the call he was on when he saw it was Melody and quickly headed downstairs.
âWhat can I do for you, Mrs. Lawrence? Wendy knows her mistake, and weâre being punished for it.
Please donât make things worse for usâ¦â
Henry looked embarrassed and hesitated when he said that.
Melody frowned as she looked at everything in the Fuller family.
She looked at the dishware on the table and two dishes that were not touched.
Then, she glanced at the people before her. Henry and Magdalene looked older after a sleepless night and seemed devastated.
They had been friends for so many years, after all. Melody felt sorry when she saw them like this.
Thinking of what Wendy had done, Melody sighed. âI donât understand what the Lawrence family has done to you. How could you let Wendy do such a thing? She even laid her hands on Estie!â
Henry and Magdalene looked at each other. They could hear that Melody did not sound as angry as before.
Henry quickly spoke humbly and helplessly, âWe didnât want this to happen. Wendy⦠is foolish! She knows her mistake now. She did all that because she wanted to marry Byron so badly.â
Magdalene also continued. âWendy hasnât eaten anything since she came back yesterday from Lawrence Manor. She locked herself in her room all night. Iâm sure sheâs realized her mistake, and we scolded her. We even told her to apologize to Byron and Estie.â
The sincerity of their words and their gaunt faces made them look sad.
Melody stared at them for a while and observed how sincere they were.
Henry and Magdalene had their heads down. Henryâs face was flushed red in embarrassment and anger, while Magdalene had been crying since morning, making her eyes look red.
They did look like they were regretting what happened.
Melody retracted her gaze and sat on the sofa in the living room.
âWendy was indeed blinded by greed. If she had done according to what I arranged for her and gotten along with Byron and Estie patiently, nothing would have happened.â
Her voice was full of regret.
Magdalene and Henry understood the meaning behind her words and grasped the opportunity given to them.
âMrs. Lawrence, we realize our mistakes and have learned our lesson. Can you persuade President Lawrence to forgive us?â
Melody neither agreed nor rejected. She sat elegantly as she looked at them.
