Chapter 29
My Ex-Wife and Kids Came In Like A Wrecking Ball
Meeting Byron Again Old Master Quirkeâs illness was a little complicated, which was why those famous doctors had been powerless. Yves took a while just telling her about Old Master Quirkeâs illness. At six oâclock in the evening after work, Rosalie went to the Quirke family mansion alone based on the address Yves had given her. A middleâaged man who looked like the housekeeper had opened the door. When he saw Rosalie, he asked very politely, âHello, may I inquire as to who you are?â Rosalie smiled, âHello, Iâm the doctor who is here to look at Old Master Quirke. I called this afternoon.â
Hearing that, the housekeeper scrutinized her from top to bottom. Seeing that she was young, he could not help feeling suspicious.
With how young she was, could she actually do it? However, he did not show it on his face. After two seconds, he said, âSince youâre a doctor, please come in with me.â
With that, he turned to lead Rosalie.
Rosalie noted that the other did not trust her, but she did not take it to heart.
She accepted any doubts before she treats a patient. She followed the housekeeper into the courtyard.
She took in the southernâstyle garden, which looked very elegant. One could tell that the Quirkes were indeed a large and refined family. Inside the villa, the housekeeper asked Rosalie to take a seat on the sofa. âWe have a guest come to visit just now. Our young master has accompanied the guest to visit the old master. I will go up and inform him, you should wait here for now.â Rosalie nodded. âThank you.â
Then, she sat down on the sofa.
A servant quickly brought tea and placed it in front of her. After waiting for a while, Rosalie heard footsteps from upstairs. She put down her cup and got up to look at the stairs.
A young man and woman were descending down from upstairs.
At first glance, the two looked a little similar. The man was handsome, and the woman looked bright and beautiful. Thinking about it, they were likely an older brother and younger sister or an older sister and younger brother.
As they walked, their heads were turned back as they were saying something to the people behind them.
They should be the guest the housekeeper had mentioned earlier.
Rosalieâs line of sight followed them all the way.
Until the guest behind them revealed themselves.
The man was tall and had beautiful features. He was still carrying a little girl in his arms and was currently speaking to the two individuals in front of him. His expression was relaxed.
Seemingly feeling her gaze on him, the man looked at her faintly.
Their eyes met and Rosalie could not help but feel her heart drop.
Byron! She never thought that she would meet this person here! Memories from that night surged.
Rosalie was shocked, almost not daring to look at him. She pinched her palms mercilessly before forcing herself to calm down. She took a deep breath, pretending nothing had happened before shifting her gaze to the man and woman in front of her.
On the stairs, Byronâs steps halted. He narrowed his eyes and looked at the woman beside the sofa.
His eyes roamed her face as if he were confirming something. Until he saw her retracting his gaze, Byronâs gaze suddenly sank.
It really was Rosalie.
He thought he had been mistaken.
Just, why was this woman here?
Byron was a little confused, but it was not obvious on his face.
âWhatâs the matter? Byron?â The man in front of him saw him stop and looked back and asked. Hearing that, Byron slowly retracted his gaze and answered with an expressionless face. There was no fluctuation in his tone at all. âItâs nothing. Letâs go.â
The man in front nodded doubtfully and the three strode down the stairs.
