Chapter 419
My Ex-Wife and Kids Came In Like A Wrecking Ball
Chapter 419 A Sincere Thanks Inside the car across the road, the driver felt the air pressure drop suddenly. His palms became sweaty.
After a long pause, Byron pulled his gaze away from the hotel entrance and said coldly, âHead back.â
The driver slowly started the car and drove toward the hotel where Byron was staying.
On the other side, Rosalie was completely oblivious to Byronâs presence as she got into the passenger seat of Leonâs car.
As soon as they were inside, Rosalie politely took off the coat and put it onto the backseat.
Leon asked her for her hotelâs address and started up the car.
No one said anything in the car for a long time. Rosalie stared out the window, lost in thought.
She really did not understand Byronâs attitude toward her earlierâ¦
âIs it alright for you to leave so soon? what about President Lawrence?â Leon asked suddenly.
Rosalie was dazed for a moment before she returned to her senses and frowned in confusion. âWhat does my leaving have to do with him?â
Leon looked at her through the rearview mirror. â Didnât he bring you here?â
At first, Rosalie had said that they had only bumped into each other outside the hotel.
When he realized that she had not driven here, though, Leon quickly figured out the truth.
Rosalie was taken aback for a second, when she turned around, she met Leonâs knowing gaze.
She pursed her lips and smiled at him exasperatedly. â Yes, but we only met each other by accident at the stylistâs. It isnât what you think.â
Leon nodded. âSo does President Lawrence know youâve left?â
Rosalie thought to herself that he had left even before she did, so he would not know when she left the party.
âI donât know,â she said briefly before changing the subject. âBy the way, why were you at the party, Leon?
Leon knew she was trying to change the topic, so he did not press her any further. He smiled and said, â President Zimmer gave me an invitation. I didnât plan to come at first, but when I heard that Senior Lewis would be in s City too, I figured that he would attend the banquet. Thatâs why I dropped by. I didnât expect to see you here too.â
Rosalie nodded distractedly.
âHow are things at your research institute?â Leon asked out of concern.
Rosalie replied, âI actually came here for the institute. President Zimmer and the others have branches in Coast City, so they can work with the institute. Weâve discussed the terms and weâll be signing the contract tomorrow. Iâll probably head back after that.â
Leon frowned slightly. âHow did you get to know President Zimmer?â
As far as he knew, Rosalie had been looking for business partners in and around Coast City. President Zimmer was based all the way in s City, so how did they get in touch with each other? He seemed to really like her, too.
Rosalie explained, âYoung Master Quirke introduced us. Come to think of it, I owe him a sincere thanks.â
Leon nodded when he heard it was Andriusâ doing. â Yeah, the Quirkes and the Zimmers are pretty close. But I thought the Quirkes are closer to the Lawrences? By helping you meet President Zimmer this time, Young Master Quirke is essentially opposing the Lawrences. If Aunt Melody finds out about this, it wonât go well.â
Rosalie frowned slightly at that. She was starting to worry about Andrius now too.
He had said that the Lawrences would not find out about this, but both of them knew very well that was a lie. The Lawrences might still find out that he had helped her build these connections.
Still, they had already come this far in the negotiations. Rosalie did not want to give up so easily either.
After all, Melody only wanted to chase her away. If she left Coast City after taking care of the instituteâs business, Melody probably would not pick on the people she left behind.
