Chapter 197
The Cherished Wife
Chapter 197
Joseph made the final decision for them. âAre you feeling better now, Winter?â
âYes, thank you, Mr. Harris!â Hearing Josephâs assurance, Winter felt completely at ease. âMr.
Harris, Iâll head back now and not disturb your and Xavierâs work
Winter carried her bag and walked out cheerfully. Xavierâs expression, however, was dark. âDad,
what are you thinking? You want me to beg Charles? You know what heâs like, heâ¦â
âDo you have a better solution?â Joseph looked at Xavier with disappointment. âIâm doing this for
you. If you had Charlesâ abilities, would I be letting you marry an idiot? Donât forget, she holds 15%
of the Shaw family shares. Once you marry her, those will be yours.
Xavier growled, âDad, I donât need them!â
âHow can you say that?â Josephâs voice turned cold. âThis is settled. Youâll go to Charles. Weâre also
associated with the Hoffman family, so he wonât ignore us.â
In the CEOâs office on the 27th floor of the Collosus Group building, Charles paused his writing and
looked up with narrowed eyes. âHeâs here? Thatâs faster than I expected!â
âMr. Hoffman, you really are good at predicting things Ronald admired Charlesâs foresight. He had
not expected Xavier to seek Charlesâs help so soon. âBut thereâs one thing I donât understand.
Xavier has faced rejection from you so many times. Why would he still come?â
Ronald had seen Xavier a few times and knew he was a proud man. It seemed unlikely he would
return
Charles smirked. âNo one refuses money. Even if he doesnât want to come, his father would find a
way to
make him.â
Ronald nodded. âSo, what do we do now?â
âLet him up,â Charles said, signing the last document. âMake sure this project starts within a year.
The first phase must begin soon.â
âYes, sir!â Ronald collected the document. âIâll bring him up now.â
Xavier was escorted by the secretarial staff to Charlesâ office. It was his first time in the core level of
here. Collosus Groupâs headquarters. Previously, he had not been able to come up
Xavier looked at the grand yet simple office floor, feeling a surge of envy and dissatisfaction.
Despite sharing the same blood, he was not only a generation below Charles but also far less
fortunate.
Xavier did not think his abilities were lacking, but he felt inferior in front of Charles. It was a deeply
unpleasant feeling.
âMr. Harris, weâre here!â Charlesâ secretary smiled and knocked on the door. âMr. Hoffman, Mr.
Harris is
here!â
Come in!â Charlesâ cool voice came from inside the office.
The secretary opened the door and gestured for him to enter. Xavier pressed his lips together, took
a deep breath, and stepped into Charlesâ territory.
