Chapter 238
The Cherished Wife
Chapter 238
âEnough. Do you think I wanted this? This is the higherâupsâ decision. But as for how you treat her,
thatâs up to you. Just make sure she gets the role,â Ronald said nonchalantly.
âAlright!â Hearing that it was an order from above and gauging Ronaldâs attitude, Ruby understood.
âIâll bring her over now. Mr. Wells, are you going to watch the show personally?â
Watch the show?
Ronald smiled, thinking about Charles and Noelle in the CEOâs office. âYes, weâre about to watch a
good show.â
Winter had been there for over an hour. Initially full of excitement, she was now on the brink of
losing her temper. If not for her agent holding her back, she would have already thrown a fit.
She felt that the people at Royal Star Entertainment were too lax. After all, she was someone
introduced by Charles. Charles had already promised her the role, and today was just a formality.
She thought she was doing Charles a favor by showing up, but it was clear that Charlesâ people did
not take her seriously.
Winter was growing increasingly impatient in the waiting room. She finally stood up and said, âLetâs
go. The role is mine anyway!â
She was about to leave when her agent quickly pulled her back. âWinter, donât rush out just yet. You
know as well that Royal Star Entertainment is a big company. Even though this role is almost
certainly yours, we donât want to ruin our relationship with them.
âThey might be busy. Letâs wait a bit longer!â
âWait? Theyâve been making me wait for so long. Do you know how valuable my time is-â
Before Winter could finish, the door to the waiting room opened, and a young woman who looked
like a secretary was standing at the door. âMs. Winter Shaw? Ms. Clark and Mr. Wells are ready for
you. Please follow me to Studio No. 1.â
The young woman maintained a formal demeanor, showing no signs of being starâstruck or
nervous. She had likely seen many celebrities in her role and was not easily impressed.
Winterâs expression stiffened when she realized the secretary might have overheard her complaints.
She signaled her agent, who quickly pulled out an envelope and handed it to the secretary. âPlease
take good care of us.â
âThatâs not necessary. Iâm just a smallâtime secretary. I canât possibly take care of a big star like Ms.
Shaw, the secretary replied, refusing the envelope and motioning for them to follow. âMr. Wells is
here from headquarters, and his time is valuable.â
Winterâs expression changed slightly, but she forced a smile. âOf course. I get that Mr. Wells is very
busy. Please lead the way!â
Despite her polite words, Winter was fuming. She did not think much of Ronald, seeing him as just
another one of Charlesâ subordinates. He was not Charles himself, and this company was not his.
Even though these were her thoughts, Winter kept a pleasant smile on her face as she followed the
secretary.

The secretary led Winter to Studio No. 1 and opened the door. âMs. Shaw, please go in.â
Inside, Winter and her agent found an empty room with just three people. She recognized Ronald
from their brief encounter at the Shaw residence and also saw Ruby, the producer. The third person
was a stranger, later introduced as the assistant director of the dramaânot a particularly important
figure.
Winter approached and greeted everyone. Then, with a commanding presence, Ruby said, âMs.
Shaw, I assume youâve read the script Mr. Wells gave you. Letâs get started right away!â
