Reflecting on it, Noelle realized that during her time with Xavier, they had never done anything truly

intimate that couples usually did.

She could not help but chuckle softly and shook her head, mocking herself for only now recognizing

the issues in her relationship with Xavier after so long.

“What are you laughing at?” Charles noticed the melancholic expression on Noelle’s face. With one

hand on the steering wheel, he gently squeezed her hand with the other. “Not interested in watching

the movie?

Noelle shook her head. “No, I just suddenly remembered some things from the past and realized

how foolish I was before.”

Charles raised an eyebrow, immediately sensing Noelle’s emotions. He patted the back of her hand.

” There’s no need to dwell on the past. Your present is much better.”

Noelle looked up, smiling softly. “Don’t worry about me. I was just having a moment of reflection.”

She was very aware of her situation and feelings.

She was much better now compared to before. “Are you really not going to tell me what you talked

about with Grandpa?”

Charles chuckled at Noelle’s persistence. “There wasn’t much to it. I just told your grandpa that you

were someone I pursued relentlessly, and I promised him that I would never let you down.” He

squeezed her hand, adding, “If I ever wrong you, everything I have will be yours.”

Noelle’s heart skipped a beat. Seeing Charles teasingly say these words, she felt a pang of

discomfort. She looked down at his slender hand holding hers, feeling his grip tighten slightly.

Charles‘ gentle voice reassured her, “That day will never come.”

After seeing off Charles and Noelle, Sebastian held a newspaper but couldn’t focus on reading a

single word.

May came out of the kitchen with a bowl of soup. “Sir, this is the stew Ms. Noelle made for you. She

insisted that you drink it.”

“That child!” Sebastian’s face lit up with a pleased smile as he recalled how Noelle had pulled him

aside to the balcony, eager to explain her relationship with Charles and speak highly of him.

Charles was his student, someone he had seen grow up. He knew Charles‘ character well.

However, seeing his granddaughter so protective of Charles reassured Sebastian and proved that

Noelle had moved on from her previous relationship.

“I suppose everything is already written in the stars!” Sebastian’s eyes crinkled with a smile. “Alright,

May. You go rest.”

After sending May off to rest, Sebastian went to his study. Seeing the chess pieces on the board,
