Chapter 50
Love The Game
When we got back Sara was not happy with me. Kris and walked around for a good 10 minutes or so before we found the girls. When we found them and started walking towards them she gave me a scary ass look.
I held up the bag of cookies and Sara just looked at me with her arms crossed. Kara was the one who took the bag out of my hand. She and Kris just walked over to some dresses to pretend like they were looking even though Kara had already picked hers out.
"What the hell Avery we were supposed to try on dresses together and actually have some fun, but you just left and didn't even tell me." She said. Full name. I was in trouble.
"I'm sorry but this isn't my thing and this store creeps me out and I just don't like it." I said as truthfully as possible.
"You could have just said that. You didn't have to just leave and not tell me." She said still mad.
"I'm sorry I should have told you, but I didn't think you'd be okay with me going to walk around." I said running a hand through my hair.
"You didn't think it would be okay if you asked so you just left and didn't say anything? And even more so why would I not be okay with it. I know you hate this stuff. I just wanted you to come with me so you could help me pick out a dress you would like." She said putting her hand on her hip.
"Babe I think you'll look great in anything. You're absolutely beautiful and whatever dress you get is just going to end up in the back seat of my car." I said stupidly. At this Sara just hit me and smirked a little even though she was still mad.
"You're so stupid." She said angrily.
"Yeah but I'm your stupid." I smiled.
"Come on. I waited for you so we could try on these dresses." She said as she picked up some dresses that were hanging on the rack behind her.
"Fine." I grumbled as I followed her into the dressing room. We walked all the way to the back to the handicap place so we could share the changing room. When we got into the small space Sara separated the dresses she had onto two hangers.
"The ones on the left are for you to try on." She said pointing. I looked at the dresses and tried them on. The first one was a sort of matte pink. It was a long dress with a weird straight neckline and it wort of puffed out at the bottom with that itchy material underneath the pink of that made it itch. I felt like a cupcake. I hated it.
"I hate it." I said flatly.
"I thought you would." Sara said pulling her own dress. It was a teal green that was slim on top and flared out a bit at the end. She looked like a mermaid. It fit her body perfect.
"Then why'd you pick it out for me." I griped.
"I was mad at you." She replied giving me a stupid little smirk. I just rolled my eyes and took it off.
"That ones pretty. You look like a mermaid." I said checking her out as I hung the dress back on the hanger.
"Thanks but I don't like the bottom." She said as she turned around for me to unzip it. After we tried on about two more dresses I was getting annoyed. The room was too small and the dresses were all ugly. As I finally got to the last dress I just looked at it. It was a solid black long dress. The material was soft but also kind of shiny. It had small spaghetti straps and came down into a v-neck. As I slipped it on I noticed that there was a long slit from my thigh all the way down. It was perfect. It wasn't uncomfortable, and it fit me perfectly. I turned around to see Sara smirking at me.
"You did this on purpose." I said smiling.
"You mean putting the one dress you'd actually like at the back? Then yes I did." She said smirking at me.
"Now turn around." She told me as she twirled her finger.
"Why?" I asked confused.
"Because I want to see your reaction when I try this one on." She laughed.
"Fine fine." I agreed and turned around to face the door. I waited a couple seconds until she said
"Okay you can look now." When I turned around I saw Sara in a backless dark maroon dress. It was tight on her torso and fell gently around her waist and legs. She looked so fucking hot.
"You look so fucking hot." I said gawking at her. She just winked at me. I couldn't help myself. I made my way towards her stepping over my dress and pushed her up against the mirror.
"Mmm babe stop before I don't want to stop." She said as I kissed her neck.
"Hey are you guys almost done? We're getting hungry." I heard Kris say into the changing room. I physically groaned against Saras neck.
"Yeah we're done already." Sara called out.

Instead of going to the sushi place we decided to go to Chick-Fil-A because Kris and Kara both didn't like sushi. After we ate and everyone was happy we got back in the car to head back home. I sat in the front this time and I held Saras hand the entire drive home. We didn't talk much. We mostly just listened to the radio. I think we were all tired from practice and the shopping. Before I knew it we were already at Karas house dropping her off.
"Bye guys." Kara waved at all of us as she got out of the car. When she left it was just Kris, Sara and I in the car. I was starting to fall asleep as we started for Kris' house. After we dropped her off Sara and I went back to my house. As we pulled up I saw my moms car in the driveway.
"You wanna come in?" I asked Sara. She just nodded and so we got my dress and got down. When we walked inside Lucas was at the table doing homework and my mom was making food.
"Hey guys. How was dress shopping?" My mom asked.
"It was okay." I said as I walked over to my mom to give her a hug. Lucas just waved at us but he didn't look up. He just kept his eyes on his paper as if he hadn't been doing the same problem 5 times already.
"Well did you guys find a dress?" My mom asked
"We found the perfect ones." Sara said to my mom as she gave her a hug as well.
"Good. I can't wait to see you in them." My mom smiled as she went back to tending the food.
"Is the food almost ready?" I asked picking up a lid off of a pot to see what was in it, but all I got was a face full of steam.
"Avery we just ate." Sara said as she sat down at the table anyways.
"That was like, an hour ago." I retorted. My mom just gave me a look. I sat down at the table next to Sara and Lucas. Sara was on her phone and so was I. After a few minutes Sara said
"Hey my mom wants me home already." I looked at the clock on the microwave. 9:48.
"Awe can't you just stay here?" I whined.
"I can't I don't have any clothes or anything. You can stay at my house if you want." She said texting her mom back. I looked at my mom.
"Mom is it okay if I stay at Saras?" I asked.
"Sorry but you and Lucas have your dentist appointment tomorrow at 9." She said still cooking.
"On a Saturday?" I questioned.
"You're the one who told me not to schedule it during the week because you can't miss basketball practice and I don't want you guys missing school." My mom said as she grabbed some plates and put the chicken and rice on them. That did sound like something I'd say.
"Sorry next time." I said shrugging my shoulders.
"Its okay." She said as she got up from her chair. I getup to walk her out.
"Bye Lucas. Bye Mrs. Atkinson." She said as we walked out.
"Bye Sara." They replied in unison. I followed Sara out to her car.
"Make sure you text me when you get home." I told her as I opened the door for her.
"I will babe." She said as she started to get in.
"Oh wait I need to tell you something." I said so she would get back out of the car.
"What?" she questioned standing up to face me.
"I love you." I smiled and I placed my lips on hers gently. I grabbed her waist and pulled her towards me. I licked her bottom lip just a bit to tease her and then let go.
"Love you too." She smirked at me.
ââââââââââââ-
I got a text from Sara about 10 minutes later saying she had gotten home.
Okay good. And sorry about leaving you earlier. I text back as I laid in bed.
It's okay. I forgive you. But next time just tell me you're getting bored. She text back almost immediately. As I laid there a thought popped in my head so I figured I better ask.
Okay I will. Hey quick question.
Yeah?
Did you get extra mad because I walked off with Kris?
Well I didn't like it. But I know you wouldn't do anything to hurt me. When I saw that I felt about ten times worse for walking off.
I wouldn't. I promise. You're the only person I love. Thats the absolute truth. No room for doubts. Its absolute. This whole situation was complicated. Sara didn't like Kris, and she didn't want me around her but she also wasn't going to tell me I couldn't hang out with her. Kris is still my best friend. This is annoying. I waited a few more minutes for Sara to text back.
I know. Now you need to get to sleep. You have a dentist appointment tomorrow. ;) I just laughed and text back
Goodnight. I love you.
I love you too
