Chapter 55

Love The Game

Saras POV

I felt bad that Ave had to leave but its not like she was having a ton of fun. I know her well enough to know that she doesn't like hanging out with everyone on the team at the same time. Probably because she doesn't really like everyone. I know for a fact she doesn't like Ana, but no one really does. As we sat around we were talking about the game tomorrow. Everyone seemed kinds of nervous for it, me included.

"We'll be fine guys don't worry about it." I heard Kara say. After she said this there was a long silence. After a while Kristina finally broke the silence.

"Whats for desert?" She asked trying to change the subject to a cheerier one.

"We have a crap ton of ice cream." Kara said smiling as she got up from the table to get the bowls and spoons. When she came back she had 6 gallons of different types of ice cream. We all grabbed the tubs and served ourselves. After we ate and played some games everyone started getting to leave. As I looked at Kris I wondered if I should have just left with Ave. I got up and put my bowl of ice cream in the sink and walked back to Kris who was getting up to do the same. As she got up Kara came up behind me and said

"Hey are you sure you don't just want me to take you home? I know that's awkward." I just looked up at her.

"No it's okay I don't want to make you leave then have to come back. Plus my house is on the way to hers so its not a big deal." I said as I put my phone in between the elastic band of my shorts and my stomach. As I did it I realized I was copying Ave. She always but her phone right there. I just laughed and Kara looked at me like I was crazy.

"Uh you ready?" Kris asked bouncing on her toes.

"Yeah lets go." I replied as I hugged Kara goodbye and followed Kris out to her car. As we got in and took off it was quiet and awkward. I just fiddled with my phone to pretend I was talking to someone. Ave wasn't texting back. She probably was in the shower or something, so I just looked out the window.

"I'm sorry about Kendal on prom night." She said out of nowhere.

"Oh it's okay. I'm sorry I hit her." I said remembering the night.

"No you're not." Kris said smiling at me. I just chuckled.

"Yeah no I'm not." I laughed and so did she. It was nice being able to have a somewhat normal conversation with her. Before everything with Avery and her and Mack we used to be friends. I kind of missed her sometimes. I put the thought in the back of my mind and looked out the window agains.  We drove past the nature trail and I could see some kids out there walking around. Weirdos. It was already dark.

"I don't hate you. Just by the way." I said looking down at my phone again.

"Avery told me you think that. But I don't." I said. Kris just looked straight ahead at the road.

"Well i'm glad you don't. I don't want to put Ave through any more trouble than I already have." She said she slowed the car to stop at a red light.

"We both love her. So we should get along." I said honestly.

"Sounds good to me." Kris said as the light turned green. I looked at her and smiled.

"Good." As soon as I said this I looked out my window to see headlights. Then everything went black.
