Chapter 1276
My Wife is a Hacker
Seeing Nicoleâs look of disapproval, Harvey explained, âI didnât mean to steal Grandma from you. I just thought she liked me very much, so I suggested it.â
âI do like him. He is so neat and decent,â Mrs. Wallace Sr. said.
âYou hear that? Your grandma likes me very much. What youâve got to say about that doesnât count.â
Harvey quickly took a seat on the other side of Mrs. Wallace Sr. and avoided Nicoleâs glare.
âGrandma, donât be fooled by his appearance. He is cunning and his personality does not match his looks at all,â Nicole said as she sat down.
Mrs. Wallace Sr. looked at the both of them, who were seated on both her left and right, and giggled.
âYou two are really like a pair of siblings when you bicker.â
âHe is not my brother.â Nicole said, not wanting a brother like Harvey.
âYour grandma is so right. Nicole, call me bro.â Harvey audaciously demanded.
âHarvey, are you looking for a fight?â Nicole glared at Harvey. âQuit pushing your luck.â
âForget it. If you donât like it, I will stop saying it. Your grandmother has agreed to it anyway. Either way, youâll have to listen to me, as Iâm your brother from now on.â Harvey smirked.
In truth, it was not that he really wanted to be Nicoleâs brother, but with a position like that, he would have a convenient excuse to meet her whenever he wanted.
âHarvey, I think you just need a good beating,â Nicole said, and swung at Harvey.
âGrandma, she is trying to hit me.â Harvey ducked out of the way while asking for protection from Mrs.
Wallace Sr.
âDonât be rude, Nicole,â her grandmother said.
Now, with Mrs. Wallace Sr.âs help, Harvey was able to elude her punches.
âYouâre lucky today just because Grandma is protecting you. Iâll let it slide once. If you talk smack to me again, Iâll make sure to fix you, good and proper.â Nicole shot Harvey a stern look before she stopped.
âGrandma, looks like I can no longer leave this place.â Harvey glanced at Nicole, as if he had been wronged.
While they were talking in the living room, Nicoleâs cell phone rang.
She picked it up to see that it was Martin, prompting her to tap the icon. â Are you done there, Martin?â
âIâm done. Sorry, Nicole. I was going to pick you up earlier, but something unexpected happened and I didnât make it. So was it Mr. Johnston who drove you home?â Martin apologized, feeling embarrassed.
âYes, I knew that you must have been tied up with something when you didnât show up. Donât worry about it.â Nicole reassured him.
âVery good. I have reserved a table for you at The Herald,â Martin said. âIâll be seeing you there at 4:30.
Is that okay?â
Martin had already made all the arrangements, as he wanted to give Nicole a warm reception.
âNo problem.â
âOkay, in that case, we talk later when we meet,â he said. âIâm hanging up now.â
âOkay.â Nicole hung up and looked at Mrs. Wallace Sr. âGrandma, I wonât be home for dinner. My friend is hosting me and I must go.â
âGo ahead. Just stay safe when you come home tonight,â Mrs. Wallace Sr. said.
âI will,â Nicole replied.
âNicole, I was just about to tell you that I have also prepared a dinner reception for the three of US tonight. What did Martin say on the phone?â Harvey looked at Nicole after hearing what she had just said to Martin.
âMartin told me a long while ago that he would arrange a dinner reception for when I came home. We have agreed to meet at 4:30 today.â Nicole looked at Harvey.
âIt seems that there is just no way for me to be at two places at the same time.â She spread her arms out, not knowing what to do.
âYeah, I wasnât expecting a clash, either.â Harvey murmured.
âLet me tell you what. Since it is our reception, and Martin is not a stranger, why donât we all just do it all together? What do you think?â Harvey suggested, eyeing Nicole attentively.
