Chapter 1280
My Wife is a Hacker
Noting the strange atmosphere, Martin hurriedly butted in to lighten the atmosphere. âAs everyone is here, I will order them to serve US our meals.â
He tapped the bell, prompting a waiter to come in a moment later.
âYou may start serving.â Martin instructed.
âYes, sir,â the waiter said.
Kelly was also able to sense the awkwardness. She quickly got up and poured wine into everyoneâs cups. Just then, the waiter began to serve them their food.
âLetâs all raise our glasses to Nicole, Harvey, and Kelly.â Martin took the lead in toasting them.
Everyone then raised their glasses in response, and that was when Martin said, âWelcome back.â
âThank you.â Nicole looked at Martin and thanked him, with Harvey and Kelly doing the same right after.
âYou are the guests of honor today, so make yourselves comfortable.â Martin sensed that everyone was rather uptight, resulting in a palpable tension of sorts, so he tried to liven it up.
âThe man whom you said was tailing you at the airport has explained himself. He is just some run-of-
the-mill creep.â Jared suddenly said, while withholding the disgusting details of what the man had said.
Nicole turned to look at him with a frown upon hearing this. âA creep? Is that what the outcome of your interrogation is?â
âYeah, you are the one who was being paranoid. It was just a misunderstanding, but Iâve already punished him for you,â Jared said as he looked at her.
âIâm paranoid? A misunderstanding?â Nicole glared at Jared.
âDid he know that I was being followed abroad?â she fumed. âIf Martin hadnât told me, I would have been in danger. I entrusted him with this important task, and yet he has temerity to say that I am being paranoid? This is totally unacceptable!â
âJared, did you interrogate that guy properly? He followed me on the plane from Lanningbourg. If you canât handle it, I will do it myself.â Nicole glared at Jared.
âI have freed him. The matter isnât as complicated as you think.â Jared explained again.
âHold on a second, Nicole. What did you say? Someone followed you on the plane from Lanningbourg?â Harvey looked at Nicole with his eyes widened as he had only understood what they were talking about after hearing the conversation for a while.
As she had already spoken about it, Nicole did not intend to hide it from Harvey anymore.
She looked at him and uttered, âYes.â
âWhy didnât you tell me about it if it was a danger to you?â Harvey questioned, looking at Nicole with a frown.
âThe situation was complicated. I donât want everyone to know about it. In fact, the fewer the better,â
Nicole explained.
âBut you canât just not tell me. I remember, was the person you subdued on the plane the one who was following you around?â Harvey suddenly recalled the incident on the plane.
âYeah,â she replied.
âSo the danger has been around all this time,â Harvey murmured.
At that time, he thought that the guy was just a thief, and after the authorities had taken the guy away, he had not given it a second thought. But now, he grew ever more perturbed when he thought about it.
