Chapter 2112
My Wife is a Hacker
âYeah,â Nicole replied with a hint of amusement in her voice. âWhere did they get the fake evidence from?â
âWell, since itâs fake, they probably forged it themselves.â Steve said in a nonchalant tone, knowing that Damien and Dillion just wanted to shift the blame to the main office.
âBut since they have reported us, donât you think itâs a little over the top?â Nicole asked, feeling a little puzzled with their actions. âThey even dare to report us to the police after fabricating evidence.â
âUmâ¦â Steve hesitated for a while before responding. âI fail to understand how theyâve gotten a secretary to give you that document. Iâd like to know how theyâve pulled it off too.â
Indeed, Steve felt that something was wrong. âWhy would Dillon dig a grave for himself?â
âSteve, do you think someone has leaked the news to them? â Nicole suddenly thought of a possibility.
âYou mean that they have gotten someone to investigate and found some actual, solid evidenceâ¦?â
âIf this is the case, then this is the only reasonable explanation I can think of. I know Dillon is suspicious of us, but to dig and actually possess evidence against us? He really isnât letting us off the hook, by the looks of it.â
âProbably.â Nicole sighed, feeling a little distressed. âDoes grandpa know about this?â
It was a certainty that Nicole was not afraid of anything, but for these issues to reach the ears of her grandfather would be a little too much for the old man to swallow. After all, it was a battle between his sons and grandchildren.
âItâs a rather huge piece of news, so I doubt itâs impossible for him not to know.â Steveâs voice became low and heavy, as he too understood what Nicole meant.
Nicole knew what Steve said was right. âOkay, since things have already boiled over, letâs just wait for the outcome.â
âSo, what are you going to do now?â Steve asked.
Nicole hesitated for a second, before narrowing her eyes and saying, âLetâs just wait and see.â
âSince Dillon is so determined to raise hell out of this issue, I canât let him off the hook so easily,â she thought.
âOkay then, we shall wait and see,â Steve said cheekily. âOf course, who wouldnât want to watch some dramas unfold, right?â
Soon after they both hung up.
Now, Nicole knew Dillionâs bag of tricks all too well, but still, she could not help to ponder, âWhat evidence does Dillion have against us? Whatâs the purpose of his plan? Is it for me, or for himself?â
The unanswered questions swarmed Nicoleâs mind, making her even more confused as to what Dillonâs intention was. It was not long before she let out a huge sigh.
âWithout my memories intact, itâs definitely hard for me to endure life here in San Joto.â
Nicole rubbed her temples, and after contemplating for a while, she got up and walked out of her office.
âNicole, are you heading out?â Lulu politely asked when she saw Nicole striding out of her office room.
âIâm going to head out for a bit,â Nicole replied.
âDo you need me to accompany you?â Lulu offered, hesitant to allow Nicole to go out on her own.
Nicole shook her head. âNo, Iâm heading out to sort some private matters out.â
Lulu did not press on with any further questions after this. She could only watch as Nicole disappeared, her heart filled with worry.
After she had reached the ground floor, Nicole took the companyâs car and drove over to Martinâs lab.
Prior to this, Martin had sent Nicole his address in advance, having decided that she could come over whenever she had the time.
However, Martin was still surprised to see Nicole coming over to visit him at the lab without giving a heads up. âYouâre here!â
âYeah, I wanted to try your improved version of the Beacon.â Nicole stated, determined to try harder to restore her memories as soon as possible.
Martin instinctively peeked behind her. âDid you come alone? It âOf course,â Nicole responded casually.
