Chapter 2181
My Wife is a Hacker
âDamien made his move?â
Steveâs expression was very stern and somber. The project with Sky Corporation was very dear to him, and he was at the brink of questioning his entire existence to figure out how Damien had acquired their project.
âI think so.â Nicole shrugged, not aware of what was happening.
âYou think so?â Steve was at loss due to Nicoleâs response.1 What does she even mean?â
Steve bit his lip before hesitating for a moment.
Then, Nicole looked Steve in the eye and said, âIt just feels a little strange.â
âEven if Damien has what it takes to stand against us, this wouldnât be the time he has shown us how capable he is. One thing is clear for sure. They were being way too obvious. On top of that, how could Everett come to be this calm in this, out of all situations? They landed themselves this major project.
How could they be this calm?â she pondered.
Steve, on the other hand, was unable to remain calm, so he muttered, âDo you think someone deliberately set this up to pit the head office against NandoCorp?â
âI canât rule this possibility out.â Nicoleâs mind singled one particular individual out at once, a mischievous look crossing her face.
âSince when has Raine gotten so smart, or was it Jamesâ idea?â
Steve noticed the smirk on Nicoleâs face and asked, âYou have an idea, donât you?â
âWe can give up on this project with Sky Corporation. I would like to see what Everett can do.â Nicoleâs eyes glinted with mischief, as she hoped to see if the person messing with them was Raine or not.
âOkay, then we shall follow your plan. I too want to see what good Everett can do. Besides, youâre the one holding the Fire Crest,â Steve said with a sneer.
âThe Fire Crest?â Nicole looked at Steve blankly. âWhat is that?â
Steve looked at Nicole and patted her on the head. âI got too excited for a while there and forgot you donât have all your memories back.â
âSteve, did you just say Iâm the owner of the Fire Crest?â Nicole frowned a little.
âI donât even know what the Fire Crest is and now Iâm the owner?â she wondered.
âBack in the dayâ¦â
Steve then carefully told Nicole about the legend of the Fire Crest, with Nicole nodding hesitantly as she listened on.
âOh, so I happen to own a century-old crest thatâs powerful enough to rally everyone to my cause. Itâs a pity that I canât remember any of this. Besides, I canât even recall where my crest is now. It would be useless now, Iâm afraid,â she thought.
âWell, it doesnât matter if you have the crest or not. I believe that Everett is no match for you,â Steve assured.
Nicole could not help but smile upon hearing that. âThanks Steve. It wouldnât be any better even if we possessed the crest.â
âThatâs true. We canât force things. Perhaps one day youâll be able to recall all your memories and retrace your footsteps.â Steve stated, being of the opinion that there was no need to discourage Nicole from regaining her memories.
Nicole nodded and agreed, âYeah.â
Still, Nicole was unable to brush aside the fact that she was unable to regain her memories, a predicament which left her frustrated. âPerhaps I can get someone to investigate the Fire Crest itself?â
âWell, in this case, if thereâs any updates, Iâll share it with you and Sean,â she said.
âAlright, Iâll wait for your good news.â
âOkay.â Nicole smiled, with Steve nodding and leaving thereafter.
Nicole bit her lip as she frowned in confusion at not being able to wrap her head around where to begin her investigation on the Fire Crest.
âWhere should I even start investigating? If I seek for Jaredâs help, it would just be a bother, as he could be too busyâ¦,â Nicole thought to herself, before deciding to forget about it until she had thoroughly made her mind up about it.
