Chapter 2326
My Wife is a Hacker
Meanwhile, most of the people had gradually returned home after having spent a considerable amount of time by the river. Only a few groups were left, and they were still enjoying the serene view of the flowing waters.
Spencer and Lulu walked hand in hand along the embankment, where the wind would blow from time to time, making Luluâs hair flow ever so gracefully in the wind.
âAre you cold?â Spencer lowered his gaze, looking at her with concern.
âNot at all. The evening breeze feels quite nice.â Lulu smiled and shook her head gently.
Fixing her hair, Spencer muttered, âIâm sorry for making you upset earlier. Iâll be more careful in the future. Iâll try to reduce the amount of time I spend with Icyln outside of work.â
âItâs okay, I understand that youâre in a difficult position. Iâve never blamed you for anything before.â Lulu said, understanding that Spencer was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Besides, he had not done anything inappropriate, having only acted out of duty for a promise.
âThank you for being so understanding,â Spencer replied, touched by Luluâs understanding.
âAlthough I understand, deep down, seeing you with her still makes me uncomfortable, especially when sheâs clinging on to youâ¦â Lulu bit her lip, as she would feel uneasy whenever she saw Icyln hanging around Spencer.
âI get it. Rest assured; I wonât spend time alone with her anymore. Even at work, weâll only discuss work-related matters. Nothing else,â Spencer earnestly assured her.
âBefore you get too worked up, Iâm not blaming you for anything. Itâs just that Iâve been thinking a lot these past few days, and Iâve finally arrived at a few realizations.â Lulu stopped in her tracks and looked up at Spencer with a serious look on her face.
âWhatâs wrong?â he asked, his solemness matching hers.
He felt that Lulu seemed a bit off. âWhy has she become so serious all of a sudden?â
Seeing how anxious he had become, Lulu chuckled. âCalm down and listen to me first.â
âOkay, go ahead.â Spencer quieted down, though Taking a deep breath, Lulu pensively looked at Spencer before she produced a small box from her pocket.
âThis isâ¦â Spencerâs eyes widened and his face blanched, recognizing the box for what it was.
He obviously knew what this box was and what was in there. It was the one he had bought when he proposed to Lulu. However, she had not accepted his proposal at that time.
Still, as he had already decided not to marry anyone other than Lulu, he had left the ring with her.
âWhy is she taking the ring out now? What does it mean? She took a few days to calm down and said that she doesnât blame me. Is it because she has truly given up on me?â he panicked.
âSpencer, when you proposed to me earlier, I said I would only agree to your proposal after I have become a better person, someone worthy of you. Someoneâ¦deserving of being your partner in crime.
You also said you would respect my decision. Now I have something to ask you, and I want you to answer honestly.â Lulu placed the small box down on her hand and looked at Spencer with a gentle gaze.
âWhat are you trying to say?â Spencer asked, his voice marred with caution, and his face brimming with a mix of concern and curiosity.
And as she stared at him with utmost seriousness, Lulu opened the small box and softly asked, âSpencer, will you marry me?â
âWhat?â Spencerâs mind blanked out, finding Luluâs words utterly surreal.
Lulu could not help but chuckle when she saw the rare look of perplexity on Spencerâs face, and playfully, she said, âIf you donât want to, letâs just forget it.â
Then, she pretended to stash the box, as well as the ring away.
âI want to, of course I want to.â Spencer snapped out of it, grabbing the ring from the box and sliding it onto Luluâs ring finger.
He was genuinely shocked when he saw the ring moments ago, for he had never expected Lulu to propose to him. It was a strange twist of events. But now, all he could feel was immense joy and satisfaction.
