Chapter 2677
My Wife is a Hacker
Patricia shook her head. âNothing.â
âYou too?â Nicole furrowed her brows as she wondered who was good enough to stop both Max and Patricia from getting any updates.
Patricia gritted her teeth. âDo you think they might have beenâ¦â
She made a gesture of slicing her throat, her expression turned solemn.
âOtherwise, why would they disappear without a trace?â Nicole looked at Patricia. âNot likely. After all, theyâre quite tough.â
It was impossible for them to be killed and disposed of without a trace.
âSo what exactly happened?â Patricia murmured.
Nicole looked up at her. âSpeaking of that, could it be that we started off on the wrong foot?â
âThe wrong foot?â Patricia seemed puzzled. âArenât we just investigating the traces of those people?
How could we have gone wrong?â âYeah. We were only searching for those few criminals, but if they disappeared so quickly, thereâs only one possibility â weâve all overlooked one thing.â Nicoleâs eyes turned dark.
Patricia kind of understood Nicole. âWhat is it?â
âThose people may not be the ruthless villains we thought they were. They might not even be habitual offenders. They might just be ordinary passersby, hidden or living near the incident scene,â Nicole said.
Patriciaâs eyes flashed in surprise. âThatâs a possibility.â
Just then, Patriciaâs phone rang, and Max was on the line.â Hey, Max.â
âMr. Johnston wants you to stay close to Mrs. Johnston. Also, Charlie will take care of the investigation now.â
âMrs. Johnston thinks that those people might be hiding or living near the scene of the incident. Ask him to investigate along these lines.â Patricia relayed Nicoleâs thoughts to Max.
Max agreed and hung up, and Patricia put away her phone.â Mr. Johnston has arranged for someone to investigate this.â
âAlright, letâs wait for updates.â Nicole sighed.
Patricia turned and left the office, while Nicole leaned back in her chair, deep in contemplationâ¦
At the same time, Daniel and Gloria arrived at the ward as Tia and Stanley were tidying up after their breakfast.
âDad, Mom, youâre here!â Stanley felt a little guilty when he saw Daniel and Gloria. âSorry for worrying you.â
âWeâre glad youâre fine. Take care of yourself, okay?â Gloria walked to his bed and looked at him as her eyes watered instantly. What had been peaceful had suddenly become a crisis, all because of those despicable criminals.
âMr. and Mrs. Riddle, please help yourselves. Iâll boil some water.â Tia said as she took the kettle and headed out.
âIâm fine, honestly. You donât have to trouble yourselves to come see me.â
Stanley looked at his parents who looked a bit worn out. He knew they probably did not get much rest yesterday.
âHow could we not come? Grandpa asked about you too.â Daniel looked at Stanley. âBut we told him that you only suffered from minor injuries. Otherwise, he would worry.â
âYeah, we shouldnât let Grandpa know the specific details. He might not be able to handle it.â Stanley agreed as he did not want to worry his grandfather.
âJust focus on your recovery now. Nicole and Jared will handle the rest,â Daniel said.
He nodded and said, âOkay.â After all, he really could not help with anything else at the moment.
KNOCK, KNOCK.
