Chapter 2695
My Wife is a Hacker
âLetâs wait for another opportunity. Itâs impossible now since our hands are tied.
Iâll let you go on a vacation some other time,â Nicole said.
There were far too many things around the office that required Nicoleâs decision and attention, and among them was the mess that Chloe had left for them to deal with.
Patricia had also been swamped with work. For the past week, she had been dealing with everything at Riddle Corporation on her own. Even with Luluâs return, there would be very little she could do to lessen the workload.
âI know I may not be of much help to you, but I know a thing or two that may be able to help you in dealing with Harvey,â Lulu informed with a serious look on her face.
After all, Lulu had thought of handling all ongoing projects between Riddle Corporation and Ellison Group before.â Perhaps Iâll be able to help her out a little.â âSounds good. Iâll leave Harvey to you, thenâ
Nicole said.
She believed that Lulu would be able to deal with Harvey alone as he was less of a threat and more of a nuisance. Though he was a piece of work, Lulu was more than capable of going toe-to-toe with him.
âOkay, I have already asked Patricia to send all the documents over. Iâll have a closer look at the details before anything else. Iâll report to you if thereâs anything that requires your attention,â Lulu finished.
With that, Nicole smiled. âOkay.â
âSomething within Lulu has changed. Iâm not sure what it is but Iâm liking it,â Nicole thought.
âIâll leave you be for now,â Lulu said, and left the office.
There was an air of determination radiating from her presence.
Not long after Lulu had excused herself, a knock on Nicoleâs office door caught her attention.
âCome in,â she said.
After the door had opened, Patricia walked in with a frown.â Mr. Riddle Sr. has stopped all financial support for Chloeâs treatment as she isnât going to any of them. Do you think sheâs given up on getting better?â
âI think itâs all an act she has put up for all of us to see.â Nicole sneered. âIf she had half the mind to call it quits, how did she manage to keep it up for such a long time? She wouldâve given up a long time ago if she wasnât able to persist, so why now?â
Chloe knew that no one would be able to touch her without solid, irrefutable evidence, and ever since Benjamin had decided to punish her, she had been cranking her act up eleven, trying to elicit sympathy from others.
Patricia nodded. âI see. Well, Chloe has been staying at home peacefully.
However, her assistant seems to be working tirelessly. She has been checking up on you every now and then.â
âChecking up on me?â Nicole narrowed her eyes as she began wondering what Chloe might be scheming this time.
âHer last attempt to kidnap the twins failed miserably. Do you think that youâre her next target?â Patricia asked as her face blanched.
âItâs possible that she might.â Nicole smirked.
âShe is probably getting her assistant to keep me under surveillance. Chances are, she is gathering information on my schedule so that she can pick the right time to strike,â Nicole surmised.
After a second or two, Patriciaâs eyes widened if she had thought about something. âI will follow you closely every day.
âNo, please donât. You donât have to follow me that closely.â Nicole laughed.
âIf Patricia follows me too closely, Iâm afraid that Chloe would not have the balls to make her move on me,â Nicole thought.
Patricia turned her gaze to Nicoleâs clenched fists and instantly understood what her intentions were. âI see that youâre trying to lure her into the lionâs den.â
âYes, and one should always remain patient and create opportunities to attack when the enemy least expects it,â Nicole replied. âWe need to teach them a lesson and show them whoâs in charge.â
âBut what if they manage to hurt you?â Patricia asked.
She was puzzled by what Nicole was up to, and as much as she wanted to catch Chloe red-handed, getting Nicole kidnapped or hurt was definitely not in her agenda.
âIf we prevent them from making a move, how are we going to bust them in the act?â Nicole argued as she imagined catching Chloe red-handed and exposing her true nature to everyone present.
âIf Chloe fails to turn up, all of my plans would go down the gutter. Capturing her lackeys in the act wouldnât do much either. I need to get her to show up in person,â Nicole inferred.
âIt does sound like a good idea, but I think itâs far too dangerous for you to work alone on this without any sort of backup,â Patricia argued with concern in her voice and anxiety written all over her face.
âDonât worry about me. You can follow me around and ensure my safety before I meet Chloe in person as I unfold her sinister plans to everyone,â Nicole replied, her voice tinged with cold fury.
âI wonder why she would do something so embarrassing to herself, knowing it would just come back and bite her in the ass someday,â Nicole wondered. âShe should have just given up. Her greed would not get her anywhere. Still, for as long as I am alive, she wonât be getting her way. I wonât put myself in harmâs way because of her antics either.â
