Chapter 2701
My Wife is a Hacker
â³Itâs nothing,â Jane replied with a smile.
âYour workload isnât heavy, so well be able to manage,â Sean added.
âThatâs because youâre capable enough to juggle between your tasks and my own, not because of how little work there is,â Steve said.
He knew that everyone already had their own share of assignments, so having them shoulder his burden would definitely add to the amount of tasks they had to complete.
âWe are all family, and being able to help each other is a good thing,â Daniel said, and looked at Sean.
âBut you need to take good care of yourself too. Just get another secretary to help you out if itâs too much for you to handle.â
âYeah, Iâll think about it,â Sean said.
He knew that Daniel did not want him to sacrifice his and Janeâs well-being for work, even though it was for the good of the company.
Jane knew this all too well, so she smiled as a surge of warmth filled her from within.
After dinner, everyone gathered in the living room to have a chat as a family. It was rare for the entire family to be back here as one, so they wanted to spend more time together.
Soon after, it got late, and Steve was the first to get up.â
Weâll head home first. Sally needs to get some sleep.â
âSure, and please take good care of Sally,â Gloria reminded Steve.
âSee you next time, Mom and Dad,â Sally said, and flashed them a gentle smile.
âOkay, goodbye,â Gloria nodded gently.
Steve then walked out of the house with Sally beside him, and the others followed suit one by one.
After a while, Cherry got up as well, and said, âIâm heading back too.â
âStanley should take you home,â Gloria said.
In response, Cherry smiled and looked at Stanley. âYouâre my boyfriend now. Of course youâll have to drive me home.â
After she had spoken, Cherry looked at Tia. âHey, Iâm leaving now. Letâs hang out some other day.â
âSure,â Tia replied.
As Stanley and Cherry left the house together, a sense of loneliness began to creep up to Tia. She gritted her teeth, trying her best not to reveal anything through any changes in her expression.
Then, Mrs. Wallace Sr. looked at Tia and said, âTia, letâs head home too.â
âTH take you with me,â Tia said, and pushed her out.
After everyone had left, Nolan and Lana turned to their parents, wanting to go back to their rooms.
Seeing this, Nicole and Jared brought them upstairs.
With the merriment in the house fading into sudden, pin drop silence, Gloria glanced around and remarked, âItâs so quiet now. Iâm not used to it.â
âItâs okay. We can have them come back more often,â Daniel comforted her.
âAlright, letâs go to bed,â Gloria said, and followed Daniel upstairs.
Tia had already returned to the house at the backyard with Mrs. Wallace Sr., who was now watching as Tia made her bed for her.
Feeling sorry for Tia, she asked, âYou care about Stanley, donât you?â
âGrandma, I donât. Heâs from a different world,â Tia explained as she felt somewhat flustered.
She had been trying her best to hide her feelings, but Mrs. Wallace Sr.âs question left her wondering, âDid everyone see through me?â âYouâve been with me for so many years now. You donât need to hide your feelings from me,â Mrs. Wallace Sr. sighed.
âI just didnât expect you to be so concerned about this issue, â Mrs. Wallace Sr.
continued.
As it turned out, Tiaâs concern had always been about status. That was why she kept insisting on addressing him as âMr. Riddleâ over the years. It was probably a reminder to herself that there were boundaries that she should never cross.
âGrandma, Iâm really fine.â Tia assured Mrs. Wallace Sr., as she could not hide the truth from her anymore. âBesides, Ms. Jean is really nice, and she is also a good match for him.
