Chapter 2723
My Wife is a Hacker
Nicole looked up at Jared, confused. âWhat do you mean when you say leave it to them?â
âYeah, it could be a trap, so itâll be much safer to let them handle it,â Jared clarified. âIf this is just a conspiracy targeted at Nicole, Charlie and Patricia can deal with it. But if Ellar really is in danger, I wonât sit idly by and let it happen.â Nicole nodded at Jaredâs explanation. âOkay, but Why donât you let Patricia handle it alone and get Charlie to cover for you?â
âCharlie should be stationed near Jared, and in the event that someone tries to go after Jared, he would be there in the nick of time to ensure Jaredâs safety. I think this is the easiest way to ensure that everyone is protected and secured,â Nicole thought.
âThatâs fine by me too,â Jared replied before summoning Max over to pass the orders down to Charlie.
Then, he darted a glance at his wristwatch. âLetâs have lunch before you head back to the office.â After happily agreeing to it, Nicole stayed for lunch with Jared.
Meanwhile, Max had just briefed Charlie and Patricia on their new tasks, to which they responded in unison, âYes, sir.â
âYou have to keep an eye on this fella. We donât know what they will do. You must be on the alert at all times,â Patricia warned Charlie.
Charlie then nodded and looked at Patricia. âYou too.â
âOkay, letâs talk about how we can strategize this. Itâs way too obvious that theyâre trying to lure Nicole into their trap by using our concern for Ellar against us all. I wonder if heâll biteâ¦â said Max as he thought, âIf Ellar is wise enough to realize that itâs a trap, things will be much easier for us.â âIâll inform Ellar about this,â Patricia decided after a few seconds of silence. âEllar should be prepared for this either way. He needs to protect himself and everyone else around him from imminent danger,â âCan we trust this guy, Ellar?â asked Charlie with a hint of hesitation in his voice.
This prompted Patricia to ask, âWhy did you ask? You know him?â
The three of them had only heard about Ellar, but none of them had personally dealt with him.
âNo,â Charlie whispered.
He was a little worried as he had a bad feeling about Ellar.
Patricia was dumbfounded after she had seen Charlieâs reaction. âWhy is he acting like this if he doesnât know Ellar personally?â âForget about it. Iâm not going to elaborate on this,â Charlie added.
âRemember to explain everything to him clearly.â âThey better not blame me if things go awry,â Charlie muttered to himself.
âYeah, I know what to do. Iâll go now,â Patricia replied, before getting up and leaving.
With a look of confusion on his face, Max asked Charlie,â Whatâs the matter with you?â he thought, âJesus, this guy is like a brick wall. I canât tell what he is thinking at all, but what he just did was weird.â
âNothingâs the matter. The one using Ms. Riddleâs soft spot for her family against her is very despicable.
I wonât let them get away with it so easily,â Charlie grumbled.
âI will capture them and put them behind bars once and for all. Gosh, they have been buzzing around like the pesky flies they are,â Charlie fumed.
With a solemn look on his face, Max agreed, âYeah, we better not let them get away with it this time around.â
âI will not let this guy slip away again,â Charlie promised.
When lunch time came around, Jared and Nicole were already at the restaurant ordering their food.
âI havenât been here in such a long time.â Nicole sighed as she looked around the restaurant.
âEverything seems to be the same as it used to be, but looking at it now brings about a sense of nostalgia,â she thought as her eyes scanned the interior of the place.
âNicole! Mr. Johnston!â someone suddenly called out to them.
