Chapter 2765
My Wife is a Hacker
Nicole, however, had an inexplicable feeling of unease in her heart. She could not put a finger on what was wrong, but she just could not shake the feeling of disquiet within her.
âLetâs eat first, and then weâll go upstairs to check.â Jared comforted her, as he saw that she looked somewhat worried.
He thought there was nothing particularly unusual about Nolanâs behavior but considering that she had been taking care of the kid for the past five years, and because she knew the boy better than he did, it would be in their best interest to give it a look later on.
âOkay.â Nicole nodded in agreement, still feeling that it was necessary for them to go up later and see what was going on.
âTia, our company has a minor team-building exercise tomorrow. Would you like to join?â June asked.
âAh? I-Iâd rather not.â Tia instinctively refused.
Refusing to give up, June continued to persuade Tia. âMost of them are from the previous group of bridesmaids, whom youâve met. There are only a few youâve never gotten to know, and those are the dudes.â âWow, can I go then?â Lulu looked at June with anticipation.
After turning to Lulu, June teased, âAre you sure?â
She then gestured at Spencer as she said, âYouâve got the guts, donât you?
Arenât you afraid of making Spencer jealous?â Lulu grinned. âI didnât mean that. I just want to help Tia with some advice.â
âBut itâs just a team-building exercise. Why are you making it sound like some kind of blind date?â
Samuel asked.
âItâs not that, but itâs important to be cautious when making friends, you know,â
Lulu said, encouraging Tia, âGo ahead, Tia. Itâs always good to make more friends.â
âIâ¦â Tia hesitated for a bit.
She really did not want to go, but she also understood everyoneâs good intentions. In addition, it would be too impolite for her to decline them outright.
â1 think itâs fine. Since we all know each other, why donât we go there together as a group?â Spencer said and turned to Samuel, signaling to him that he should agree as well.
âI think itâs good. There will be even more familiar faces.â Lulu nodded, thinking it was a good idea.
Samuel pondered for a moment, after which he said, âOkay.â
Seeing that Samuel and Spencer had agreed to show up, Lulu turned to Nicole and asked, âNicole, why donât you come too?â
Nicole looked at Tia, and after giving it some thought, she replied, âAlright.â
It was evident that Tia was reluctant to go, but she did not want to disappoint everyone. With enough pressure, she would likely be on board, and if Nicole tagged along, Tia might even feel more at ease.
âTia, do you still have any concerns?â Lulu looked at Tia as if waiting for an answer.
âIn that case, I guess Iâll just come along.â Tia gave in, and gave Nicole a glance as if to indicate that she was thankful.
She knew that Nicole rarely participated in such activities and had only agreed to join because of her.
After flashing Tia a reassuring smile, Nicole said, âLetâs eat.â
Everyone quickly ate their dinner, filling the room with gales of laughter and merry conversations, before leaving for home.
Watching her children happily making plans for tomorrow before going home, Gloria felt somewhat relieved. âThis is what a family should be like.â
And indeed, a family home should always be lively and joyful. A simple look at them and how well they were doing would put a smile on everyoneâs faces.
âYeah, you may stop worrying now.â Daniel smiled at Gloria.
âThey are all doing good, and thatâs our greatest wish fulfilled,â Gloria said, holding onto Danielâs arm as they went upstairs.
Concurrently, Jared and Nicole had also gone up to the second floor to check on Nolan and Lana
