Chapter 2912
My Wife is a Hacker
Ellar was caught off guard, quickly composing himself as he rolled down his car window. Spotting Samuel, he couldnât resist an eye roll and asked, âWhy does it have to be you?â
Samuel, with a curious tone, responded, âFunny, I was about to ask you the same thing. What brings you here? Why parked your car here?â
âJust gearing up for work,â Ellar responded, attempting to sound casual.
âI might as well join you then,â Samuel declared, opening the car door and hopping in.
Ellar shot him a look. âYouâre surprisingly free today, arenât you?â
Samuel shrugged. âSort of. Had an event, but it was a no-go. Now Iâm here, ran into you by chance.â
With no real alternative, Ellar started the car, muttering,â Lucky me.â
âCanât a guy even wallow in self-pity in peace?â he thought, a twinge of irritation surfacing. âIs it too much to ask for a moment alone with my thoughts about a love that never started?â
Samuel, picking up on the mood, tilted his head. âSomething up? You seem a bit out of sorts.â
Ellar grumbled quietly, âItâs nothing,â while secretly rolling his eyes. âMight as well face the music. Itâs not like my heartacheâs going to vanish overnight.â
âSo, heard you were at the hospital a bit. Everything okay?â Samuel inquired, concern evident in his voice.
Ellarâs expression tightened. âWhy does he have to mention the last thing I want to talk about?â he thought.
âNo, youâre mistaken. Iâve been at the office,â Ellar answered tersely, clearly not interested in discussing it further.
Samuel glanced back toward the hospitalâs direction.
âAh, so youâve been visiting someone there after work?â Samuel guessed, thinking Ellar might be seeing Patricia. He didnât pry any further.Books Chapters Are Daily Updated Join & Stay Updated For All Books Updatesâ¦
No serious issues between them, it seems. All good then,â Samuel concluded in his mind.
Ellar glanced at Samuel. âDonât you have somewhere else to be, even with your plans canceled?â
âOut of everyone, why did I bump into Samuel? So frustrating, 1 Ellar brooded internally.
âAh, donât even mention it, Iâve been abandoned,â Samuel grumbled about his house being renovated, his room taken over, and not having anywhere to go.
June was at work, and Samuel, usually alone at his place, now couldnât even return to his own home.
âThat does sound pretty rough,â Ellar raised an eyebrow and suggested, âHow about we go for a drink?â
âDrinking?â Samuel sounded surprised. âDonât you have to go to the office?â
âMissing one day wonât hurt,â Ellar reassured him. âSo, are you coming or not?â
Samuel shrugged, âSure, letâs go. But you know I donât drink.â
âIf you donât drink, whatâs the point of you coming?â Ellar asked, somewhat annoyed.
âIâm there to keep you company. You look like you could use a drink. Iâll just have a soft drink or something,â Samuel said, seeing it as a way to kill time.
Ellar frowned, puzzled. âWhy donât you drink?â
âGetting ready to be a dad,â Samuel replied matter-of-factly.
Ellar ground his teeth in frustration, regretting he even asked. It was him who ended up feeling worse.
Soon, Ellar parked the car in front of a club, and they both headed inside.
Meanwhile, at the Riddle Corporation, Nicole had just arrived at the executive floor and stepped out of the elevator.
âNicole,â someone called out, and she turned to look.
âSean, Steve,â Nicole recognized them and walked over.
âLetâs talk inside,â Sean suggested, pushing open the door to his office.
Once inside, Sean got straight to the point, âTheyâve indeed arranged someone to pose as a lawyer to get in touch with Uncle Damien.â
âThatâs good to know,â Nicole replied, a hint of coldness in her smile.
