Chapter 2920
My Wife is a Hacker
Patricia agreed, stepping back. âYou should get some rest too.â
Charlie hesitated before asking with concern, âYour injury seem serious.â
âItâs nothing,â Patricia downplayed, avoiding Charlieâs gaze as she turned to leave.
âWill the captain be alright?â Seth asked Charlie, worried.
âLetâs give her some room,â Charlie said, getting up slowly, his eyes showing his worry. He could tell the cut on Patriciaâs face was worse than she was letting on. Even with years of training under her belt, he understood that a scar on her face could still be a big deal to her.
âWill she get through this?â he wondered, deeply concerned for Patricia. âI should have asked her to leave this dangerous life a long time ago.â Charlie sighed, thinking it might be time to discuss this with Max, and hoped Jared and Nicole would agree.
Meanwhile, Patricia returned to her apartment.
The moment she closed her door, all her pretenses collapsed. She didnât bother turning on the lights, just sat on the couch in the dark, feeling completely drained.
She sat there silently until daylight broke.
Knock, knock, knock.
Someone was at her door. After a moment, Patricia slowly turned her head toward it.
Frowning, she finally got up to open the door when the knocking persisted.
Expecting Seth, Patricia was shocked to see Nicole. âMs. Riddle, why are you here?!â
âSurprised? Who did you think was coming?â Nicole asked, her gaze lingering on Patriciaâs cheek.
Nicole could tell from just one look that Patriciaâs injury was serious.
Entering the apartment, Nicole spoke with a heavy tone, âI heard about what happened, so I came to check on you.â
Then Lulu followed, saying, âDonât stress. Weâll find a solution together.â
Patricia just shook her head. âI doubt thereâs a fix for this. Itâs okay, though. Just another scar.â
âBut what did the doctor say?â Lulu asked, her brow furrowing. âIsnât there anything that can be done?â
âIâll make some tea for you guys,â Patricia said, quickly changing the subject.
Watching Patricia go to the kitchen. Lulu whispered to Nicole, âIs there really no hope? What about Martin?â
âLetâs take her to see Martin later,â Nicole suggested after a momentâs hesitation.
âRight, we canât just give up,â Lulu nodded firmly.
Patricia returned, and Lulu noticed her dark circles. âYou didnât sleep last night, did you?â
Caught off guard, Patricia glanced down at her clothes and nodded. âNo, I didnât.â
She couldnât remember how the night had passed so quickly.
âYou didnât eat either, did you?â Lulu said, urging her to take care of herself.
âYou canât go on like this. You need rest.â âHave something to eat, and then come with us,â Nicole said, her eyes showing concern.
