Chapter 2935
My Wife is a Hacker
Lawrence was convinced that no matter who else he tried to find or what other plans he came up with, things wouldnât work out.
Scorpioâs face had turned sour, his words sharpening. âSo what youâre saying is, youâd rather let that woman have it than us?â he asked, visibly upset.
âLet the best person win. After all, thatâs the rule with the Five Badges,â
Lawrence shrugged, a nonchalant air about him. âAs long as I have it, Iâll do what I want with it.â He knew he needed the Water Crest, and that Nicole was his only chance. âWho else could pull it off?â
Besides, he thought, âItâs safer with me. How could I be at ease if itâs in someone elseâs hands?â âFine, then guard your Water Crest well,â Lawrence said, standing up with a hint of threat in his voice.
Not backing down, Lawrence gave Scorpio a cold, challenging look. âYou can try,â he said defiantly.
Their meeting ended without agreement. Scorpio glared at Lawrence before storming off.
Watching Scorpio leave, Lawrenceâs eyes narrowed, his gaze darkening. âHe came to test the waters, but heâs clearly desperate. He might make a reckless move.â Suddenly getting up, Lawrence headed upstairs. âI canât wait any longer for the Water Crest. I need to get it now.â After entering his study and turning on his computer, Lawrence, under a pseudonym, messaged Nolan, urging him to crack the game soon for an early release.
Still concerned, he sent another message to Nolan under his real identity, filled with friendly words but also subtly reminding him that he could help with any issues.
This way, Lawrence could stay updated on the gameâs progress through Nolan.
The next day dawned bright and sunny.
At breakfast, his family gathered in the dining room.
âMummy, why did you and Daddy come home so late last night? Is Great Grandpa okay?â Lana asked, looking up with curious eyes.
âGreat Grandpaâs fine. We just stayed late chatting with your uncles and aunts,â
Nicole explained.
They had indeed come home late, finding Nolan and Lana already asleep.
âMummy, I got a message on my computer. Theyâre rushing me,â Nolan looked toward Nicole.
âWhen?â Nicole asked, understanding he was talking about the game.
âThis morning, but I think it was sent last night. And Godfather messaged me too,â Nolan added hesitantly.
âWhat did he say?â Nicoleâs expression grew serious.
âJust that heâs been busy with work and hasnât contacted me in a while. He asked about how Iâve been and said I could come to him for help with anything,â
Nolan replied.
Nicole nodded, understanding Lawrence was probing Nolan for information.
She gently tousled Nolanâs hair. âLetâs try tonight,â she said softly.
âOkay,â Nolan agreed.
After breakfast, Tia took Nolan and Lana to school, and Stanley went with them.
Nicole was about to leave when Daniel stopped her. âWhat were you and Nolan talking about?â
He sensed something serious in their conversation.
âItâs nothing, Dad. Nolan was just playing a beta version of a game, and the developers are waiting for his feedback,â Nicole replied with a smile.
She could tell Daniel was suspicious and tried to hide her emotions, not wanting to worry him.
âIs that all?â Daniel still seemed unconvinced.
