Chapter 2939
My Wife is a Hacker
Ellar realized, âThat explains it. Since the hospital incident, sheâs been out of sight. Sheâs been hiding because of her injury.â Patricia stayed silent, deliberately avoiding Eliarâs eyes. Her only wish was to vanish from there.
Lulu, slightly taken aback, questioned, âHow did you find us, Ellar? Were you following us?â
It seemed impossible for Ellar to know they were meeting Martin or about Patriciaâs injury unless he had followed them. Lulu understood how Patricia must be feeling â no matter how bravely she faced her scars, she wouldnât want Ellar to see them.
Ellar, caught off guard, admitted, âI had a feeling you were hiding something from me. I just needed to know what it was.â
He had overheard Nicole mentioning a visit to Martin, a renowned medical professor. Desperate and worried, he followed, only to discover Patriciaâs injury â the kind any girl would struggle to accept.
Nicole, seeing Ellarâs distress, didnât reprimand him. âWell, now you know,â she said, acknowledging that some secrets were hard to keep.
Patricia had calmed down, her tone firm yet distant as she faced Ellar. âMy issues arenât your concern anymore. Please, leave.â
Her indifferent tone and the way she distanced herself made it clear there was no longer any connection between them.
Ellar, heartbroken by Patriciaâs state, bit his lip. Nicoleâs words echoed in his mind, reminding him to stay calm for Patriciaâs sake. He couldnât risk causing her more pain.
Trying to contain his emotions, Ellar suggested, âI heard you were going to dinner. I havenât eaten either. Maybe we could go together?â
But he was determined not to leave Patricia alone in her time of need. Heâd stand by her, encouraging and supporting her, regardless of the future.
Patricia, however, declined. âYou go ahead, Ms. Riddle. Iâll pass,â she said, her voice strained from the effort to remain composed. She feared she couldnât control her emotions if she joined them for dinner.
Ellar, instinctively reaching out to Patricia, offered a compromise, âThen Iâll leave, and you stay.â
With that, Ellar left, leaving everyone a bit surprised by his sudden departure.
Nicole noticed a change in Ellar â he seemed to have been mature a lot suddenly. Indeed, giving Patricia space was probably the best way to help her now.
âWe should get going,â Nicole said, not holding Ellar back. They still needed to thank Martin and Cindy for their efforts in helping with the situation. The treatment and planning were largely thanks to them, and they would continue to need their support in the future.
Cindy promptly agreed, and the group headed out, deliberately not discussing Ellarâs unexpected appearance.
