Chapter 161

RYN

My ex–bestfriend looked around with a tear stained face and then her gaze landed on me..

A myriad of emotions coursed through me from hate, to confusion, anger, pain and a couple other things. I remember begging her for help, right before she pinned me down to help Frank and his friends hurt me. I remember writhing in pain from being rejected by her father and his pack while she just stood there watching.

That’s who she is the kind of person who would stand by and betray their friend just to please others.

Billie began to cry and instantly, she went on her knees and held on to my leg.

“Ryn, please I am so sorry.” She sobbed. “My father forced me to lie against you. I didn’t want to do it. He forced me!”

I shook my head in disbelief, remembering how she was hoping to get a car out of my disgrace.

“Did Frank force you too?” I whispered and she raised her head to look at me.

Maybe if she said no. Maybe if she admitted that her actions were intentional and deliberate, then maybe, I could allow myself to feel some sort of sympathy for her.

“I…” Her voice trailed off. “I am so sorry, Ryn. He was going to bully me if I didn’t help him.”

Prolled my eyes at her blatant lie, really not surprised. She continued to hold on to my leg, but El pinched her ear, pulling

up so that Billie was forced to rise to her feet.

“Ah! Get your hands off me you ugly half–faced bitch!” Billie spat, and El wasted no time in smacking her face hard.

Billie stumbled to the side, holding her face and then, she began to cry again. El unaffected by her theatrics grabbed her hair and together, plus Miro, we moved towards where Alpha Jack and Theon stood.

“Please Ryn! I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness but can you please remember all the good times we shared?”

I scoffed but didn’t say anything.

“You know I was going through a lot with my mom and dad fighting and…..and…I was jealous of your perfect family and the way e–everyone liked you at school.” She blabbered, and I had to stop and stare at her in disbelief.

“You were so pretty and you always got straight As and everyone kept talking about you and wanting to be your friend and I was so mad about that.” She cried, talking more to herself than to me. “I hated you so much because my mom would always compare me to you and ask me why I wasn’t better than you at everything.”

“So you thought the best way to do that was to lure me into the woods and have kids torture me with an electric CATTLE PROD?!”

Billie blinked, floundering for what to say. “I didn’t know he would bring a cattle prod.”

“And when he did, what did you do?” I took a step towards her. “You helped him hold me down. Tell me. Were you so jealous of me that you wanted me dead too.”

“Come on. I’m sorry, Ryn. I was just a kid and I have been paying for my sins!” She pointed to her scarred face. “All the cosmetic surgeons I went to told me there’s nothing they can do to my face. They said your claws ran deep and my face will never come back to normal. So is that not punishment enough?

“It would have been.” I replied, starting to move again. “Until you decided to make that video.”

Chapter 161

“I told you my father”

“ENOUGH WITH THE BULLSHIT!” I yelled in her face, feeling tears burn my eyes. “ENOUGH WITH THE LIES! AND THROWING BLAME AT EVERYONE BUT YOURSELF! When will you admit that you were a shitty friend? You spread a terrible rumor about me the first time and even months after I left, you were still so obsessed that you felt the need to pull me down again!”

Billie looked away, and down at the ground.

“Yeah, I thought as much. So whatever pile of hot shit you still have to spew, keep it to yourself.” I said before moving again.

Silence settled on us all as we moved, and I was shaking so bad, I could cry.

I let my hair cover my face so no one would see the tears rolling down my face. Just then, I felt a large presence walking beside me and when I looked up, I discovered it was Miro.

Next thing, I felt was the brush of his fingers, creating lovely sparks that shot up my hand. Then my hand understood his message, and leaned into his own, making our fingers interlock

Something about that quiet gesture made me feel at ease, quieting my raging wolf and hurting soul.

It made me feel seen.

“Ryn, please look at me.” Billie pressed, just as we arrived.

Miro stiffened beside me, and then I felt his body turn towards her, while I kept my gaze on Theon whose brows furrowed at whatever he saw on my face.

“You’re not worth a moment of her gaze. So leave her alone or I will force you.” He said, and with that, his fingers tore from mine and I heard his feet crunch on grass back to where we came from.

I suddenly felt chilly, but I didn’t make a move.

“You good?” Theon mouthed to me and I nodded in reply, wiping my face with my wrists.

Theon threw a glare Billie’s way but he didn’t move. Instead, everyone atched as Alpha Jack was brought out of the car where he had been made to sit, and when he saw his daughter in the grip of El, his eyes glowed a murderous red.

“Get away from my daughter!” Alpha Jack growled, and once again, he struggled against the hold of the men holding him.

‘Dad, help!” Billie struggled too but El was one strong hostage taker.

“Are you just going to stand by and watch?!” Alpha Jack snarled at Theon. “Are you not meant to be protecting us?”

Theon and I shared a glance, before he looked towards El. “Give me the girl.”

El frowned, and gripped Billie’s hair tighter. “No.”

Theon cocked his head in disbelief and fear coursed through me at the dangerous look in his eyes.

‘El.’ I called and she looked at me with defiance burning in her gaze. “Let her go. Trust me.”

Her stubborn haze lingered on mine, before she pushed Billie roughly towards Theon.

The brat cried harder, her arms spread out to hug Theon but before she could touch him, he grabbed one arm instead and whipped her around so she was facing us. Her crying stopped and her face heated in embarassment as she looked away.

What a drama queen.

Theon turned to Alpha Jack, I have her now. Give Ryn what she wants.”

“Why should I when she’s safe?” Alpha Jack smirked, and Theon sighed.

“Because my promise to protect you only lasts till my father arrives. If you don’t give Ryn what she wants I will make sure I hunt you and your daughter down. So we can either do this the respectable way or the messy way. You choose.”

Alpha Jack’s smug smile faltered and he rolled his eyes in defeat

“Fine.” He muttered and then he gave me the code.

Eagerly, I entered them and at the sound of a soft lock, the box opened.

I breathed a sigh of relief as I lifted the lid and saw dozens of documents, with the name Ashmore all over it, along with some other things.

My wolf stirred in delight. This is finally happening. I’m going to understand who my parents really were.

“Finally.” I breathed a smile, looking over the documents in the box. Then I turned to El, “We can’t take him. So what’s next?”

El looked at him, her gaze heavy. “There’s something missing. It can’t be that simple. There has to be contracts signed. Lawyers present. Witnesses. He’s not telling you something.”

“I agree.” Theon added, folding his arms and I looked towards Alpha Jack, only to see him have a coy smile.

“What aren’t you telling me?”

“Well.” He sucked his teeth, “Your parents left conditions surrounding your inheritance.”

I frowned, my heart racing. “What conditions?”

“Ask any lawyer around, but since I was the lawyer who handled their properties, I will tell you this. In order for you to inherit your parent’s wealth, you have to be marked and mated. Without that, you get nothing!
