Chapter 10
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
hapter 10 Chapter 10 At the same time that evening, Kris was at The View, a popular nightclub where he and his friends, Henry and Alden, often went to talk over drinks. Henry and Alden had just returned from a business trip to the news of Krisâs divorce from Thalassa.
âSo you finally made her sign the divorce papers and kicked her out? Iâm so happy for you, man.â
That was Henry, a dirty blonde guy in his late twenties who had no filter whatsoever when it came to the things he said and slept around with no intention of settling down.
Alden glared at Henry. âDo you really think saying all that will make him feel better? Canât you see he looks miserable as it is?â
Alden, also in his late twenties, was tall with dark hair and easily the most handsome among them. He was usually the voice of reason.
âOh, please,â Henry rolled his eyes. âHeâs going to get over it soon. The fact that that lowlife is finally out of his life is so much better. She never deserved to mingle with people like us anyway.â
âLowlife? Henry, donât forget that you didnât exactly come from riches yourself,â Alden reminded him. Henry was instantly offended, glaring at his friend. âYes, I know that I wasnât rich until I met you guys and you invested in my business. Are you going to always remind me of that?â
Alden sighed. âNo. But-â
âThen donât bring it up,â Henry cut him off. âBesides, my situation was so much different from that womanâs. I came from a middle-class family and sheâs just a poor nobody with no family who seduced Kris to get rich.â
Kris gripped his glass of whiskey tightly at the insult, but he didnât say anything.
âItâs not exactly her fault that she has no family, is it?â Alden pointed out.
Henry sucked in a breath of frustration, âShould I call her for you so that you can tell her you want to be her new best friend?â
Alden raised his hands in surrender, knowing this argument wasnât going anywhere.
Herry turned to Kris. âHonestly, I will never understand why you chose to marry that woman even after finding out that she cheated on you the night before your wedding. I know you just wanted to make her suffer and confess, but you took so long to finally get rid of her Kris gritted his teeth as flashes of certain photos went through his mind. On the day of his wedding to Thalassa, heâd been the happiest man in the world until his mother and Karen showed him the pictures of Thalasso naked with another man.
it had completely shattered him.
Everyone had expected him to call off the wedding, but to their shock, heâd gone ahead and married Thalassa Heâd done it for revenge. That was why heâd dedicated the past year to making her suffer for deceiving turn, even though he never told her why âSpeaking of that. Aldenâs voice pulled him out of his thoughts. âWhat works +25 BONUS Chapter 10 had confessed that she cheated on you?â
Kris stiffened. He knew the answer to that question, but he felt too ashamed to admit it to his friends. He wouldâve forgiven her.
Even after everything, if sheâd confessed the truth and regretted cheating on him, he wouldâve forgiven her. That was how much of an idiot he was.
But sheâd never confessed. Instead, sheâd gone on to lie and betray him. What she had done recently, stealing money from his family and trying to blame his mother, had been the last straw.
Realizing that his shot glass was empty, he poured himself another shot of whiskey and downed it in one gulp.
âDude, donât you think youâre drinking too much?â Alden asked, worried, when Kris poured another shot.
But Kris didnât listen. After Thalassaâs latest betrayal, heâd felt numb. The alcohol was the only thing that made him feel something. So he continued drinking.
Shot after shot.
God, how could he be so s**pid to let the same woman betray him twice?
He poured another shot, but just as he was about to gulp it, Alden s*n*ed it from his hand.
âThatâs enough.â
Kris glared at him. âGive it back!â
âSee, your voice is even slurring! Kris, youâve drunk too much already,â Alden protested.
âCome on, stop being a spoilsport and just let him drink,â Henry said, earning a glare from Alden.
âFine,â Kris said. If Alden wasnât going to give him the glass, then he was going to drink straight from the bottle.
But just as he was about to pick it up, Alden pulled it from his reach again.
âAlden,â Kris growled.
âNo, Kris. Let me take you home right now. You wonât be able to drive in this condition.â
âIâm not going home. The bed... Itâs... Itâs empty without...â
No! That woman wasnât even worthy of being in his thoughts.
âOh goodness, son. What have you done to yourself?â Linda Miller complained when Henry and Alden brought a stumbling, drunk Kris into the mansion. She was standing beside Karen.
âMum, Iâm not drunk. Iâm just... tipsy,â Kris slurred, freeing himself from his friends to show his mother that he could walk on his own, but he nearly fell after only one step. His friends quickly grabbed him again.
âHow could you have allowed him to drink like this?â Karen snapped, glaring at Henry and Alden.
âWe tried to stop him, but he wouldnât listen,â Alden explained through gritted teeth.
If it wasnât for Krisâs mother being in front of him, he wouldâve snapped and told Karen to shut up and not +25 BC Chapter 10 speak to him like that. There was just something about her heâd never liked.
âJust take him to his room, will you?â Linda said.
They watched as the two men took Kris upstairs before returning to say goodbye and leaving the house. As soon as Alden and Henry left, Linda turned to Karen with a dubious look on her face.
âKaren, you know what to do.â
âOf course,â Karen said with a smirk before making her way up the stairs.
When she got to Krisâs bedroom door, she knocked once and entered. Kris was standing by a small table in the comer of the room where there was a decanter filled with alcohol. He was pouring some into a shot glass.
âKris...â Karen walked forward. âKris, donât you think youâve had a little too much to drink?â
âKaren, what are you doing here?â Kris questioned without looking at her. He gulped down the shot of whiskey while Karen watched him gleefully. It was perfect for her plans.
âKris, it really pains me to see you like this. I still feel like itâs my fault.â
âIâve already told you that itâs not. Thala...â He stiffened. â...that woman was responsible for her own actions.â
He poured himself another drink.
âBut drinking isnât going to make you feel better,â Karen pointed out.
âThen what is?â Kris hissed harshly. âItâs late. Just go, Karen.â
His breath reeked of whiskey, but Karen didnât care. She was a woman on a mission.
âLet me help you forget, Kris,â she said, stepping closer to him.
Kris stumbled back. âHelp me forget? How?â
âLike thisâ
And with that, she reached behind her and pulled down her zipper, then the straps of her dress. The dress slipped down her body and pooled at her feet, leaving her almost naked in only her panties.
