Chapter 102
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 102 The following morning, Thalassa was awakened by gentle knocks on her bedroom door. Since she had been drifting between consciousness and sleep, she easily woke up and called out, âCome in.â
The door opened, and Luisa stepped into the room. âI canât believe youâre still asleep.â
She walked forward and sat on the bed beside Thalassa. âYou and Clark sure took your time last night. I was N**** *xâing while waiting for you, but I got so exhausted that I donât even know when I climbed the stairs to my bedroom. Iâm sorry. I shouldâve called to check up on you.â
âItâs okay,â Thalassa assured her, forcing back a yawn.
âWhat kept you two so long anyway?â Luisa asked, her eyes narrowing slightly with a mischievous smile. âDonât tell me you finally got laid after starving your pussy for more than three years.â
Thalassa rolled her eyes. âNo, Iâm still quite celibate, I assure you. I was attacked outside the restaurant.
The smile on Luisaâs face vanished. âWait! What? How can you just drop that on me so casually? What do you mean you were attacked?â
âClark left his keys at our table, so he went back to get them. That was when I was attacked by a man. Clark intervened and ended up getting slashed on the side of his torso, so we had to go to the hospital so he could get stitched up, and-â
âWait, wait, wait. Hold up.â Luisa stared at Thalassa like she was a ghost. âYou speak so coldly about it. Werenât you scared?â
A wry smile curved Thalassaâs mouth. âScared? What does fear ever achieve, Luisa?â
Luisa nodded in agreement, even though she knew that if it had been her, she wouldâve probably pissed herself.
âBut what did that man want? Was he a robber?â
Thalassa shook her head. âNo. Clark offered to give him any amount he wanted, but he refused. He wasnât after the money.â
A gasp spilled from Luisaâs throat. âOh God, that means...â
âHe was sent to attack me,â Thalassa finished emotionlessly.
âOh, Lassa.â Luisa engulfed her best friend in a hug.
She knew that Thalassa liked to put on a bold front. Or maybe it wasnât a bold front, and she was really brave, but even brave people were bound to feel some fear sometimes and needed as much comfort.
When she pulled back from the hug, she asked, âAnd that man? What happened to him? Tell me he got arrested.â
âNo, he managed to get away. But Clark said that he would report the attack to the police.â
âBut did you at least see his face?â
âNo, it was covered. Every part of his body was covered, including his hands,â Thalassa answered.
Luisaâs eyes widened. âJust like the man who was sent to make you lose your baby. Do you think itâs the same man?â
âI donât know. I canât be sure. But if thereâs one thing Iâm sure of, itâs that Linda Miller was also behind this attack.

She suddenly took Thalassaâs hand. âLassa, we need to get you a bodyguard as soon as possible.â
Thalassa was shaking her head even before Luisa could finish her sentence. âNo. Iâm not getting any bodyguards.â
âBut...but...â Luisa stammered in frustration. âLassa, I know you are very brave. Me, not so much. Iâm really scared. What if she sends someone else to attack you? You really have to consider getting a bodyguard.â
Luisaâs hand was shaking slightly, and Thalassa squeezed it to calm her down. âIf I get a bodyguard, thatâs going to send the message to Linda that Iâm afraid, which isnât true. I am not afraid of that woman.â
âBut Lassa-â
âDonât worry about me, Luisa. Iâm going to be fine.â
Luisa seemed agitated with her refusal but let out a resigned sigh when she realized that Thalassa wasnât going to budge.
âFine. But please promise me that youâre going to be extra careful and take care of yourself. Hopefully, the police are able to do something about it with Clarkâs involvement.â
They hugged again, but the ringing of Thalassaâs phone cut through the moment. It was Clark calling.
âPut it on speaker,â Luisa said.
Nodding, Thalassa answered and put the call on speaker.
âGood morning, Lassa. I...â
âHello, Clark,â Luisa cut in.
âOh, hey Luisa,â Clark replied.
âLassa told me about the attack you two experienced last night. I just want you to know that Iâm very grateful for how you risked yourself to save her.â
Clark paused for a bit. âShe didnât tell you how she was actually saved, did she? She did it all herself. You shouldâve seen how bravely she fought that bastard.â
âReally?â Luisa said, sideâglancing at Thalassa. She knew Thalassa had taken selfâdefense classes but hadnât realized just how effective theyâd been.
âYes, she ended up making me look like such a wimp,â Clark said with a small chuckle.
âEither way, Iâm still grateful. How is your wound doing, by the way?â
âItâs healing just fine. Donât worry about it.â
Thalassa finally stepped in. âClark, were you able to file the report?â
âWhich report?â Clark asked on the other end, Thalassa frowned. âThe report about the attack. You said you would take care of it.â
âOh, that. Yes....I...I filed the report yesterday. Iâm sure they find that bastard soon.â
Thalassaâs frown deepened. Why did he sound so nervous? Clark, is something wrong?â There was a pause before Clark responded. âHavenât you seen the news?â

Without waiting for an answer, Luisa pulled out her phone and opened her browserâs news feed. Her forehead creased as she read the news.
âWhat is it?â Thalassa asked.
Luisa slowly turned the phone screen to face her, and Thalassa tensed as she read the headline.
TOP FASHION DESIGNER, THALASSA THOMPSON, FINDS LOVE AGAIN AFTER MESSY DIVORCE YEARS AGO?
Attached to the headline were two pictures of her and Clark outside the hospital, standing by his car when heâd been on the verge of kissing her again.
