Chapter 116
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 116 Chapter 116 +25 BONUS Krisâs hand quivered, his breath coming out shakily as anger rushed through him. He hadnât considered Karen as a possible culprit since she had nothing to do with the fashion world, but what Alden was saying made a lot of sense.
He immediately jumped off his stool and grabbed his bottle. Bringing it to his lips, he chugged the remaining beer, his grip tightening around the bottle as he wished it was Karenâs neck so that he could strangle the hell put of it.
âWhere are you going?â Alden asked, holding him back as Kris was about to storm off.
âDo you really need to ask?â Kris sneered.
âTouché.â Alden nodded. âYouâre going to confront Karen. Fine, but give me the keys. Iâll drive. Youâre drunk.â
Kris glared at him. âIâm not drunk.â
As much as heâd wanted to drink himself into a stupor, he knew he needed a clear head to think, which was why heâd opted for beer instead of whiskey.
The bartender, who had obviously been listening to their conversation, chimed in. âHeâs right, Alden. He only had two beers; itâs not that bad.â
Alden wasnât disuaded, turning back to Kris. âEven two beers can make you tipsy, and in your emotional state, youâre in no condition to drive. Besides, I didnât even finish my drink so Iâm in a better condition to drive. Just give me the keys, dude.â
Kris scowled but dug his keys out of his pocket and tossed them at Alden.
âHurry up,â he commanded, turning to storm off.
âWhatever you say, my lord,â Alden muttered.
They reached the Miller Mansion a few minutes later. Alden followed Kris inside, wanting to make sure he didnât do anything reckless.
Inside, Karen and Tessa were sitting on the floor, playing Tessaâs favorite game of Lego. The nanny was seated on a couch nearby. Karenâs eyes lit up when she saw Kris.
âLook, Tes! Daddy is here.â
âDaddy!â Tessa squealed, but she didnât leave her game.
âHello, sweetie,â Kris cooed as he approached, his anger momentarily forgotten as he took in his daughterâs happy smile.
As much as he wanted to give her a kiss, he didnât want the smell of alcohol on his breath to linger in his daughterâs memory.
âSweetie, why donât you go play in your room with Boatemaa?â he suggested gently, running a hand through her hair. He signaled for the nanny to come over and take Tessa away.
The nanny obliged, gathering Tessa and her Lego and carrying her upstairs.
âOur daughter... she really loves her Lego, doesnât she?â Karen chuckled, looking at Kris as if she expected him to laugh too. âBy the way, whereâs your mom, your siblings, and your aunt? Didnât they-â
Before she could finish, Kris grabbed her roughly by the shoulders, glaring at her with his furious eyes. âHow dare 1/2 Chapter 116 you?â
Karenâs eyes widened, fear evident in her eyes. âWhat have done?â
âIt was you. You paid that model to destroy Thalassaâs collection, didnât you?â
âThalassaâs collection was destroyed?â Karen asked, her eyes widening in shock.
+25 BONUS âDonât pretend like you donât know what Iâm talking aboutâ Kris sneered, squeezing her shoulders even tighter. âI really donât know what youâre talking about,â Karen insisted, trying to free herself. âWhy would I sabotage Thalassaâs collection? What would I gain from that?â
âDonât give me that,â Kris gritted our, shaking her violently. âYou wanted her to hate me even more so sheâd never forgive me. But youâre coming with me right now to confess that it was you.â
He released one of her shoulders and began dragging her by the other. Karen wrestled herself free. âKris, why should I confess to something I donât know anything about? I swear I donât know anything about this. I didnât even know what had happened until you just told me.â
Tears began streaming down her face. âI know you think Iâm the worst woman youâve ever met, but Iâm not a monster like you think. Why would I do anything to Thalassa after she freed me from jail?â
âBecause youâre nothing but a backstabbing, horrible bitch,â Kris growled, grabbing her shoulders again and mouth.â shaking her even more violently. âI donât believe a word that comes out of your Karenâs voice trembled as she cried. âPlease, Kris, stop. Youâre hurting me. Let go,â
Watching everything unfold, Alden felt Kris was going too far. He quickly intervened, grabbing Kris by the arm. â Youâre hurting her, Kris. Stop. Let go of her, man.â
âIâm not letting go. She needs to come with me and confess to Thalassa that sheâs behind everything,â Kris snarled.
âYes, but whatâs the chance Thalassa will believe you? And remember that everything I told you was just a suspicion. What if it wasnât Karen after all?â
Kris hesitated, still gripping Karen while she cried in pain. Alden tried to pry Krisâs hands away, but it was no use.
âKris, this isnât you. Youâve never treated a woman like this before. Whatâs come over you?â Alden stared at him like he couldnât recognize him?
His words were enough to bring Kris back to his senses, and he finally let go of Karen. Alden was right. He had never handled a woman like this before, but Karen brought out the worst in him.
âYouâre too upset right now, Kris. Letâs just go and deal with this later when youâre calmer,â Alden reasoned.
âI swear it wasnât me, Kris. I-â Karen began pleading again.
âShut your mouth!â Kris snapped, startling her into silence. Then he stepped closer, his voice calm yet cold. âIâm going to get to the bottom of this, and if I find out you had anything to do with it, not even our daughter will save you this time.â
With that promise, he shoved her away and stormed out of the house, Alden following.
