Chapter 118
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
2/2 Chapter 118 Chapter 118 +25 BONUS âIâm fucking going crazy, Alden. I need to see her,â Kris gritted out, pacing his office.
Last night, after leaving the Miller Mansion, he had wanted to go straight to Thalassa to reaffirm his innocence. But Alden had dissuaded him from it, telling him that he needed to wait for some time for Thalassa to reflect on everything so that they could have a calm conversation about it later.
And today, Alden was saying the same thing.
âHow long is it going to take?â Kris muttered, his frustration bubbling over. âSurely, sheâs had enough time to reflect and will be willing to listen to reason by now.â With a decisive nod, he added, âIâm going to see her. I canât wait any longer.â
Just as he was about to leave his office, a knock sounded at the door. Kris opened it to find Millie standing there. âYouâre late,â he saud, a barbed edge to his voice.
âSorry,â Millie replied, stepping inside. âI had to go see Thalassa after hearing about what happened.â
Krisâs ears perked up as he closed the door behind her. âWhat did you two talk about?â
âShe told me she believes it was you who paid her model to destroy her dresses,â Millie answered, her tone matter -ofâfact.
Kris clenched his jaw, his frustration mixing with disappointment. Alden had been right; a single night wasnât enough for Thalassa to see reason.
âI hope you tried to make her see how ridiculous that accusation is,â
âNo, I didnât,â Millie admitted, meeting his gaze with steady eyes.
Kris stared at her, clearly displeased. âMillie, why didnât-
âIâm sorry, but every time I defend you, Thalassa gets upset, and itâs not fair to me,â Millie interrupted, her voice firm. âSheâs my friend, and it doesnât look good that almost every time I see her, Iâm defending the man who hurt her so much.â
Krisâs nostrils flared. âI didnât-â
Millie cut him off again. âYes, you did, Sir. You might have been deceived by the evidence you were given, but that doesnât change the fact that you made her suffer during your marriage and threw her out in the middle of the night after your divorce. So Iâm sorry, but youâll have to resolve your issues with Thalassa yourself. If you want to fire me because of that, then go ahead.â
Kris flicked his tongue over his lips in bemusement. Millie had never spoken to him like this before, but he could see where she was coming from.
Sensing the tension, Alden stepped in to defuse it. âThereâs something I donât get,â he said, furrowing his brow.â Why would that model destroy Thalassaâs dresses knowing the cameras were on her?â
âShe didnât know,â Millie explained, letting out a breath to calm herself as she continued. âThe model told Thalassa that Kris said he would have all the CCTV cameras deactivated during that time, which was true because the CCTV cameras recorded nothing.â
Kris frowned, confusion clouding his features. âThen how did Thalassa get that video?â
âShe set up a separate camera not connected to the buildingâs CCTV network inside the display room,â Millie said, her gaze steady. âAnd youâll never guess who gave her that idea.â
1/2 Chapter 118 âWho?â Alden asked, while Kris tensed, waiting for the answer.
âClark,â Millie revealed.
+25 BONUS Kris suddenly slammed his fist into the wall, a primal sound escaping his throat and startling Millie. âItâs him. Of course, itâs him!
That fucking bastard.â
His eyes blazed with fury, his fists clenched as if Clark were standing in front of him, ready to be punched.
âKris, letâs not jump to conclusions,â Alden cautioned, raising his hands. âThere are already too many suspects as it isâfirst your mother, then Karen, and now Clark Morgan?â
âNo, it was him,â Kris insisted, his voice low and dangerous. âThat model thought all the cameras had been deactivated, so she didnât know she was going to be caught But whoever sent her wanted her to be caught so she could name me as the mastermind. And now it turns out that bastard had Thalassa install a separate camera? He told her that because he knew what was going to happen. He planned it!â
âBut heâs in love with Thalassa,â Alden pointed out, still trying to make sense of it all. âWhy would he sabotage her work and keep her from winning the competition?â
A cold smile crept across Krisâs face. âTo make her hate me. He doesnât care if she suffers now, as long as it keeps her away from me so he can have her all to himself later.â
