Chapter 124
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 124 âSo you and Clark... youâre serious now? Are you dating him?â Millie asked.
âI wish!â Luisa interjected. âSheâs still going on about her Iâll never fall in love again. Blah blah blah.â But I know Clark will slowly melt her heart. Isnât he so handsome?â
âUh... yes.â Millie nodded, but in her head, she added, âbut only on the outside.â
Indeed, sheâd initially thought Clark was a gentleman, even if heâd seemed a bit too sweet. Sheâd even thought that she would be happy if he helped Thalassa to finally move on, but after everything Krisâs investigator had revealed, she was wishing for the complete opposite.
It troubled her that Thalassa was close to someone like Clark, but as much as she wanted to warn her friend, she couldnât say anything because she feared Thalassa would accuse her of being sent by Kris to influence her or turn her against Clark.
She just hoped the investigators could find damning evidence soon or that Kris could somehow manage to convince Thalassa of how dangerous Clark was.
âWhat about you, Millie?â Luisa suddenly asked, pulling her out of her thoughts.
Millie raised a brow. âWhat about me?â
Luisa shrugged as she did a brief swirl in the water. âI just mean it really came as a surprise when your boyfriend suddenly showed up outside the restaurant that day. We didnât even know you had a boyfriend because you never talked about him, and you still donât. Why the mystery?â
Millieâs spine stiffened, but she managed to force a smile. âWhat do you want to know?â
âI donât know. Whatâs he like? Kind? Gentle and sweet? A gentle lover or an absolutely wild beast in bed?â
LuÃsa laughed at her own joke, which forced Millie to chuckle. âUh, he... heâs the most wonderful man there is.â âOh, just that?â
Luisa wriggled her eyebrows teasingly. âNo bedroom deets? Oh, come on, tell us. One of us hasnât gotten fucked in more than three years and she could really use getting turned on by something.â
Thalassa knew Luisa was refering to her and glared at her.
âWhat? Itâs not like Iâm lying.â Luisa rolled her eyes with a small laugh before focusing on Millie. âSo Millie? Deets?â
A nervous chuckle came out of Millieâs throat. âHeâs... heâs good in bed.â
Luisa sighed with disappointment, realizing Millie wasnât going to give any details like sheâd hoped. âOkay, fine. Then tell us. How did you two meet? When did he ask you out? Was it love at first sigh-â
âWhy canât you just stop asking questions? Do you really need to know everything?â Millie suddenly snapped, cutting Luisa off.
Luisaâs eyes widened. âMillie...â
âIâm sorry. I shouldnât have snapped at you. There are some things Iâd rather not talk about.â
âItâs fine. But is everything alright?â
Millie felt like she was suffocating, suddenly wanting to be out of there before they could ask her any more pressing questions.
âEr...yeah. Itâs just that I remembered I had something to pick up. Forgive me, but I have to go now, Chapter 124 +25 BONUS Thalassa had been studying her expression, noticing her nervousness. âMillie, are you sure everything is okay?â Millie nodded earnestly. âYeah. I just have a deadline to meet, so I have to pick up the item soon.â
She had rolled the hem of her dress slightly above her knee, but in her haste to get up, she nearly fell into the water. She managed to hold herself upright, but the bottom of her dress fell into the pool and got drenched. âOh, youâre wet. Let me get you a dress,â Luisa offered, about to get out of the water when Millie stopped her. âOh, no, you donât have to bother. Iâll just use the dryer in the guest washroom.â
11 âItâs no bother, Millie. I can get you a dress.â Luisa insisted Millie shook her head. âPlease donât worry about it. Itâll be fine. You guys continue having fun in the pool. See you later.â
With that, she made her way from the balcony into the house. Taking deep breaths to calm herself, she entered the guest washroom downstairs.
Despite being a guest washroom, it was equipped with every bathroom necessity, from toothbrushes and towels to blow dryers.
Picking up the dryer, she turned it on and directed the nozzle at the bottom of her dress. A few minutes later, the front of her dress was a bit drier. She couldnât dry the back while still wearing the dress, so she had no choice but to take it off, leaving her in only her bra and panties.
She was still drying the dress when the door unexpectedly opened. Her heart skipped a beat as she spun around to find Zeke stepping into the bathroom.
His eyes widened when he saw her. âOh, fuck, Iâm sorry. I didnât know you were in here, Millie.â
âItâs okay,â Millie said awkwardly, not knowing whether to cover herself with her dress or not.
She realized her mistake when Zekeâs eyes suddenly darkened as he stared at her bare belly. Shit! The bruises!
Millie quickly covered her front with the dress, hoping he hadnât seen much, but his eyes moved to the mirror behind her where her back was reflected.
His gaze darkened even further as he looked back at her face. âMillie, why do you have all these bruises on your body?â
