Chapter 27
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 27 âHumiliate you? I wonder why you would even think that, Mr. Miller,â Thalassa said in her everâsoâsweet innocent voice.
âYou didnât even allow my mother to explain what kind of alliance she had in mind. And since we met you yesterday, all youâve done is disrespect herâus.â
Thalassa raised a brow. âI am a businesswoman, Mr. Miller, I only form alliances where I see profits. Be honest with yourself. If you were in my shoes, would you have wanted to be associated with a company thatâs on the cusp of bankruptcy?â
Kris gritted his teeth, knowing she was making sense, but at the same time, he felt this wasnât just about business. It seemed personal.
âIf youâll excuse me, I have a lot to do,â Thalassa said with the intention of opening the door for him, but she had only taken two steps past him when he suddenly grabbed her by the arm, pulling her close to his body. Too close.
âWhat are you doing?â she questioned as calmly as she could when her heart was pounding inside her chest.
âWho are you? Why are you doing this?â Kris demanded, his breath fanning her lips as his cyan eyes bored into hers as if searching for something. âItâs you, isnât it? Youâre â
âThalassa?â She cut him off. âWas that what you were going to call me?â
Krisâs eyes narrowed. âHow did you know?â
âYou called me by that name at the masquerade gala, remember?â she said. âNow youâve got me curious. Whoâs this Thalassa woman you seem so obsessed with? The love of your life?â
She didnât know why she was asking him that question, but she found herself holding her breath as she waited for his answer.
âNo. Sheâs the woman I hate more than anything in the world,â he finally said.
His words were like a punch to her gut. Thalassa felt her anger rising. He hated her? The cheek of it.
Despite her anger, she forced a smile on her face. âWow, you say that with such passion. What did this Thalassa do to make you hate her so much?â
âShe is my exâwife. She cheated on me before we got married and betrayed me so many times. She...â He suddenly trailed off, as if wondering why the hell he was saying all that to her.
Thalassa was stunned because this was news to her. He thought she cheated on him? Was that why he changed so much after they got married?
Anger cut through her emotions. How dare he judge her when he was having an affair with Karen all along through their marriage?
Feeling vindictive, she jerked her arm from his hold and said, âWell, I donât know this exâwife of yours, but after meeting you, Iâm sure she had ample reason for cheating of you.â
Krisâs eyes blazed with a mixture of emotions as he gritted his teeth. âIs this you trying to justify yourself?â
Thalassa rolled her eyes. âYou still think Iâm your exâwife, âIf itâs not you, then challenged, stepping closer to her.
1.wonât mind if I take your mask off will you?â Ki When he raised his hand, Thalassa held her breath, waiting for him to take her mask off.
Chapter 27 Just then, the door to her office opened, and Luisa stepped in. âOh sorry, T. I didnât know you were busy.â
âItâs okay, Luisa. Mr. Miller was just leaving.â Thalassa said, taking a step back from Kris.
His eyes narrowed further in accusation, but he didnât protest before turning and walking out of her office.
Luisa waited until the door had closed behind him before speaking. âI came as soon as I saw him confronting you.
âThank you, Luisa,â Thalassa said, walking back to sink into her swivel chair.
Though she hadnât been planning to hide her identity after todayâs meeting, for some reason, she didnât feel ready yet. Especially not after the conversation sheâd just had with Kris.
If he really thought that she cheated on him before they got married, then why did he still go ahead and marry her? Why did he never confront her about it throughout their marriage? What made him think that she cheated on him?
Outside the office, Kris was simmering with irritation as he made his way to the elevator.
Heâd been close. So close to taking off the mask to see her face, but that other woman walked in right then. To him, the interruption wasnât a coincidence. It only served to increase his suspicions.
Pulling his phone from his pocket, he dialed a number. âSmoke, I need you to pull up and send me everything you can find on the CEO of TT Fashion.â
Later that night, Thalassa was in the bathroom freshening up. Standing under the shower, she soaped herself up before letting the steamy water rinse away all the bad energy from today.
Once she turned the shower off, she toweled herself dry before making her way into her walkâin closet through the door that connected it to the bathroom.
Slipping on her panties and nightwear, she had just stepped out of the closet into her bedroom when she came to a stop at the sight before her.
There was a man standing in the middle of her bedroom. It was Kris, and he had a dark look on his face as he glared at her.
âI knew it. I knew it was you.â
