Chapter 32 Later that day, Thalassa was in her office reviewing some designs when she heard muffled bickering outside her door.

“I told you, you can’t just go in,” her secretary Juana said.

Thalassa sighed, wondering who she would have to deal with now. Just then, the door burst open, and Karen stormed in.

She smirked, enjoying how Karen’s face flashed with anger before she continued. “Or maybe it was you who couldn’t recognize me because you felt too guilty to even consider that it was me.”

“Guilty?” Karen scoffed. “I have nothing to be guilty for.”

Thalassa’s smile hardened as she walked around her desk to stand directly in front of Karen. “Are you sure about that? How about the fact that you betrayed me when I asked you to tell Kris the truth that his mother was the one who sent me? You were supposed to be my best friend, yet you betrayed me in the worst way possible.”

Karen shivered, seeing the blatant look of hatred in Thalassa’s eyes, which confirmed that she’d indeed come back for revenge.

But maybe if she managed to appeal to Thalassa, then she would spare her.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t want to do any of those things,” she said. “Linda forced me. She was so determined to get rid of you, and she threatened that if I didn’t help her or exposed her, she was going to destroy me and my family. I couldn’t allow that.”

After Karen finished speaking, Thalassa could only shake her head in wonder. “And did Linda also force you to have an affair with my husband and marry him after we divorced?”

Karen opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out.

“I can’t believe how easily it comes to you to betray the people who trust you. You’re still as despicable as ever, so don’t play innocent. You betrayed me to get me out of the way so that you and Kris could finally be together.”

By the time she’d received ten slaps, Karen felt like she was floating. She couldn’t even think because the pain had occupied every cell in her brain. She stumbled back until she couldn’t stand properly and landed on the cold tiled floor.

Breathing fire, Thalassa walked forward and crouched beside Karen as she hissed, “I know that it was you and Linda who sent that man to attack me on the night Kris and divorced. The two of you killed my baby, and for that, I’m going to be your worst nightmare.”

Suddenly, she felt sadness mixing with her anger. Before everything, she’d considered Karen the sister she never had, someone she could always rely on.

“Why? What did I ever do to you to deserve such cruelty?” she asked.

“Because you stole Kris from me!” Karen snapped. “He was the man I’ve always loved. I introduced you to him because you needed a job, but you stole him from me while pretending to be my friend!”

“You never told me you were in love with him,” Thalassa reminded her, shaking her head. “If you’d told me, I would’ve never accepted his proposal to be his girlfriend. Instead, you chose to frame me and kill my unborn child!”

Her anger sparked back to life, and she descended on Karen giving her more slaps. Afterward, she grabbed her by the hair and pulled her off the floor before dragging her out of the office while Karen cried, begging her to let go. of her hair. 1 Just as Thalassa was about to drag her further, Kris’s voice bellowed, “Let go of her!”
