Chapter 34
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 34 Thalassa felt tears burning her eyes, but she refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing her cry. âAre you done?â
âYou arenât even going to deny it, so itâs true?â A bitter smile stretched across his lips as he pointed a finger at Zeke, âYou moved in with this man just a few days after our divorce. For someone who was so desperate for me to take you back, you sure didnât waste any time jumping onto your next prey.â
Zeke realized what Kris was driving at and stepped in to try and clarify. âThalassa is not the woman you think she is. Things didnât happen the way-
âZeke,â Thalassa raised her hand to cut him off. âI donât owe this man any explanation.â
Krisâs gaze hardened. âIf you think you donât owe me any explanation, then you also have no right to come after my family with your bogus accusations.â
Thalassa sucked in a breath. âIt was your child too.â
âMy child? How do I know that?â Kris demanded. âEven if you were truly pregnant, how can I be sure that the child was mine when you moved on to the next man immediately after our divorce? How can I be sure that it didnât belong to any of your other lovers?â
He let out a scoff, the anger and pain evident in his eyes. âDid you yourself even know the father of the bastard you were carrying?â
Out of all the things heâd said to her, this was the worst of them all. Thalassa had tried so hard not to cry, but at that moment, she felt a single tear slip down her cheek as she smiled sadly.
âCongratulations, Kris. You just called your dead child a bastard. I hope you never regret it because for this, Iâll never forgive you.â
With that, she turned and calmly made her way back to her office with Zeke following her.
Thalassa had done her best to shed only a tear in front of Kris, but as soon as she entered her office, the dam behind her eyes broke. Tears streamed down her face, wracking her body in gutâwrenching sobs.
âLassa...â Zeke breathed, shocked by her reaction.
Without thinking, he moved forward and wrapped his arms around her. She stiffened, but contrary to his expectations, she didnât push him away. Instead, she sagged against him, allowing the sobs to rack through her body.
He felt goosebumps scatter across his skin at the sheer magnitude of pain behind every sound that came from her. Maybe this made him a bad person, but he felt jealous of her tears.
In the last three years that heâd known her, heâd never seen her cry. Not even once. Even when Granny passed away, heâd known she was grieving too, yet she only cried when she was alone with Luisa.
But now she didnât mind crying in front of him, and it was all because of her exâhusband. She was obviously still affected by Kris.
Otherwise, his insults wouldnât have affected her so much.
But at the same time, this was the first time she was allowing him to hold her like this, and that made him happy.
The moment was broken when the door suddenly opened. Luisa froze at the entrance at the sight before her.
âIâm sorry, Iâll just come back later,â she said hurriedly, about to turn and leave when Thalassa stopped her.
âNo, Luisa. Donât go,â Thalassa said as she finally pulled back from Zekeâs embrace, Chapter 34 Zeke had to hold back a sigh of disappointment at the loss of her warmth.
Thalassa looked at him. âIâm sorry you had to see me this way.â
âYou donât have to apologize for anything. Itâs fine.â
It wasnât just fine. It was marvelous. Maybe he was more of a bad person because he was glad to have seen this side of her; this vulnerable side.
It made him realize that she wasnât just the cold, unfeeling woman she portrayed herself to be. It gave him hope that he could melt her cold side one day.
âOh Lassa. What did they do to make you cry like this?â Luisa fumed as she stepped into the room, closing the door behind her.
She immediately went to give Thalassa a hug.
âThat stupid Kris Miller came here to say all sorts of things to her,â Zeke explained before turning to Thalassa with a slight frown.
âI was going to tell him the truth that there was nothing between us. Why did you stop me?â
âBecause I donât care what that man thinks of me, especially not after today.â
Zeke didnât know whether he believed her, but it pleased him to hear her speak with so much conviction.
âWhat exactly happened?â Luisa asked.
Thalassa explained how she ended up beating up Karen after the latter basically admitted that it was truly her and Linda who sent her attacker when Thalassa had asked her what she did to deserve her cruelty.
âWait, so all of that happened inside your office?â Luisa asked, and when Thalassa nodded, her eyes widened with excitement.
âThat means we have evidence!â
Thalassa raised a brow. âWhat do you mean?â
âWhat do you mean by what do I mean? I mean the camera we set up here the day of the meeting with Kris and his mother,â
Luisa said excitedly as she turned to the spot where theyâd planted the camera.
