Chapter 37
The CEO's Amazing Ex-Wife Is Back!
Chapter 37 Kris was furious because his family had lied to him. Theyâd told him that Thalassa had slapped his mother unprovoked. Now it turned out that it was his mother who had slapped her first.
âYou lied to me, Mum. Why did you tell me that she hit you first when that wasnât true?â
Regret filled him as he remembered all the hurtful things he had said to Thalassa. Heâd gone to her office, angry from what his family had told him, as well as the discovery of her relationship with Zeke. That was why heâd said all those things to her.
Now it turned out that heâd been lied to.
âKris, why are you speaking to your mother like that?â Karen said, trying to touch him on the arm, but Kris shook her touch off and ignored her.
âI canât believe youâre really speaking to me like this because of that woman.â His mother suddenly broke into tears. âI only went there to fight for our family because that woman is obviously intent on destroying us. That was why I hit her, but she hit me back so hard.â
Seeing his motherâs tears, Kris forced himself to calm down a bit, but he was still upset. âThe problem is that you lied to me, Mum. You made me believe she attacked you first and even allowed Tyler and Susan to post something to tarnish her image online when you knew that none of it was true.â
âKris, donât you think youâre being too harsh?â His aunt said. âSo what if your mother slapped her first? If she had any respect, she wouldnât have laid a hand back because your mother is older than her. Yet she humiliated us in such a way.â 1 âExactly, brother. No matter what, you should defend our family and not her,â Tyler said, earning another death glare from Kris.
Kris gritted his teeth, feeling agitated by everything. âSomething like this shouldnât happen again.â
With that, he turned and stormed out of the house, ignoring the calls of his family members.
âWhat? You said all those things to her?â Alden stared at Kris in horror.
They were in Krisâs office, and Kris had just narrated everything that happened when he went to confront Thalassa at her office.
âFor me, I donât see anything wrong with it,â Henry said, shrugging. âItâs not like he lied. That woman deserves it. She cheated on him before and after their marriage, and she went off with the first man immediately after Kris divorced her. Even if she was truly pregnant, the baby definitely didnât belong to Kris âEven so, he shouldnât have said those things to her,â Alden insisted, glaring at Henry before he turned back to Kris. âLook, if Thalassa was truly pregnant, then thereâs a possibility that the baby was yours, and that would mean you might have called your own child a bastard. Do you know how hard it would be for her hearing that after the pain she experienced from losing the baby?â
âYou think I donât know?â Kris gritted out, feeling guiltier with every passing second. 1 He was waiting for his PI to bring him the results of his investigations, but at the same time, he also felt uneasy.
What if he found out that Thalassa was truly pregnant three years ago:
Just then, a knock sounded on the door. Krisâs heart skipped a beat as his private investigator, Smoke, walked into his office.
